I use an intake form to ask basic questions then I decide which secondary forms the client must fill out. Can I use information from the first form and a second form to fill in a PDF?
Example;
Form 1 asks for name, email, cell, DOB etc.
The second form asks other questions. Can I merge the two forms into one to then fill in a smart PDF form so the client doesn't need to fill in the same fields over again?
So the client fills in https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/intake
And then https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/commercial-credit-application
Instead of using pre-fills can the fields in form one be merged with fields in form two say in a table? This way the second form wouldn't have redundant fields
I just don't want the user to have to fill in the same field on 5 different forms in an app

Hi,
You can still use the Form Prefill option by doing this process
Complete guide:
In that way, the user does not need to fill out the same information on the form. Just connect the previous form submission for the specific user.
Then, to merge the data of multiple forms in one table.

You can’t use pre-fill with the app. unless a new feature has come out this week. Please confirm
I was attempting to think of a way of getting around the fact that pre-fill doesn’t work in the app.
what about my other point? Can I merge data from 2 different forms into one to use in a smart pdf form or any other form that is?

Hi,
You are correct, in order for the prefills to work, the user needs the unique URL sent to them or via email invite.
About your 2nd question if you can merge 2 different forms and make it 1 form, that is possible by merging 2 form fields using the Field Manager App.
It will allow you to select certain fields that is going to be merged with another form
Thanks,
Rose

This is where a 3-minute phone call would bypass these communication issues.
I have the correct fields in both forms. I want to eliminate the redundant fields in the second form. Not introduce the same fields in both forms.
I have smart pdfs as the second form. I want to use part of the fields from form one and part of the fields from form two to fill in the smart pdf.
Again please view my app. The intake asks name. The smart pdf asks name. Why do I have to ask twice when it's the same email address on both forms. let me see if I can explain
The app I'm talking about https://www.jotform.com/app/canadian_business_financing_inc/cbf
Intake form https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/intake
One of the secondary forms. All the repetitive fields are circled. If pre-fill worked with the app the client wouldn't have to fill them in again. https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/cashflow-lending-application
And here is a secondary form that is a smart pdf for a vendor I use. https://form.jotform.com/info465_info/commercial-credit-application
This is repetitive and my goal is to eliminate it. Since pre-fill doesn't work in the apps there has to be another way. This is why I thought 2 forms could be merged into a table (yes this can be done) but it's the output to the smart pdf that's the issue.

What if I hid the duplicate fields? How could I then manually pull the info over? I don't have that many per day. Could I have them fill in the non-hidden sections of the secondary form then refill it from the intake form?

Hi,
Thanks for waiting, you can pass over the data from one form to another form using the URL parameter.
Means you will redirect the user to the second form when the user submitted the 1st form and the fields which are common in both the forms will get filled automatically from the Form 1 to Form 2.
What you have to do is to redirect the user after submitting the Form 1.
To do that you have Goto Settings > Thank you page > Select Redirect to an external link after submission > And you have enter the URL where have to redirect the user(In your case it is Form 2).
Your link will contains the fields value which needs to be filled to Form 2 you have to send.
e.g. https://form.jotform.com/53542179889977?fullName1[first]={fullName:first}&fullName1[last]={fullName:last}&email2={email}
To get more details on this you can go through the below guide
https://www.jotform.com/help/351-how-to-automatically-pass-form-data-to-another-form/
Hope this resolves your issue.
Feel free to reply back to the thread if you face any issue or need any help.

Ravi I appreciate it but again. Does it work within the app? No….
so again if you look at the intake and then the secondary you’ll see the secondary forms add maybe 4-10 new fields over the intake form. So can I hide all the dupilcates? Get the user to fill in the new fields then do a pre-fill and merge the 2 submissions together. This way all the fields will be completed for the smart pdf.
so can you merge two submissions together and still have a complete submission for a smart pdf?

Hi,
The suggestion by my colleague works if the 2nd form will be filled out right after the user submits the first form. In a way, it can work on the app if the user will access the first form using your app.
Then, on the 2nd form, you can repeat the process so the user would continue filling out different forms with the redundant information filled in. Again, this works if the user will fill out each form right after submitting the previous one.
However, if your goal is to access each form from the app and have the redundant fields automatically filled in, that would not be possible.
Regarding merging two submissions data together, as I have mentioned in the above reply, you can use this feature:
https://www.jotform.com/help/1002-how-to-get-data-from-other-forms-in-jotform-tables/
If your goal is to merge the PDF file of the submission of different forms, internally, this is not possible. You will need to download each PDF file and merge them using an external tool.
Thanks,
Rose

Ok to confirm
Intake form
Field 1
Field 2
Field 3
Smart pdf
Field 1 (hidden)
Field 2(hidden)
Field 3 (hidden)
Field 4
Field 5
So the client fills in the fields on the intake form. I then point them to the smart pdf form and they fill in only fields 4 and 5 and I can merge the two forms so the smart pdf has all 5 fields filled in?
External tool? Table? Please describe.

Hi,
Regarding the Tables, this is to merge the submissions data of different forms in one Table. If you need to manage all the submission data in one Excel file.
https://www.jotform.com/help/1002-how-to-get-data-from-other-forms-in-jotform-tables/
In merging different PDF files of a form, as I mentioned there is no option to do it internally. So after downloading each PDFs, you can use an external PDF editor to merge PDF files. I believe Adobe Acrobat can do it.
https://www.adobe.com/sea/acrobat/online/merge-pdf.html
Thanks,
Rose
