Thank you for asking about this feature. So far, we have not heard from our developers whether this feature is currently being worked on or not. I apologize if I can't give any substantial information as we are not privy to what's happening in our development team's "laboratory".
One thing I can assure you is that this feature is already approved and added to our developers' todo list. We cannot give a specific time as to when this will be finished, especially since our devs have been very busy these days. As a matter of fact, they have just finished implementing our latest (and coolest!) feature yet, Facebook FIT forms. Please try that feature out and send us some feedback if possible. Thanks!
Anyway, we will just let you know once the feature you're asking for (limiting form submissions) is implemented.

Any clue what are other people doing to work around this? If I need to limit the number of registrations to 8, do you think the best way to do this is to integrate jotforms with paypal's basic shopping cart so that the shopping cart "drives" the quantity "sold"?
Any suggestions are appreciated!

To answer on behalf of co-moderator Neil, that will be an unconventional but an acceptable workaround nonetheless. As per Paypal's website, the Paypal Pro does have inventory management feature. The downside is, there may be a possibility that the incidence of pending submissions will increase.
What other users do is they actively monitor the form submissions so that when the limit is reached, they manually disable it so that the form will no longer accept additional submissions.
Please try the Paypal inventory feature and see if it works for you. If not, you can opt for the manual alternative.
Thank you and enjoy using JotForm!
