Workflow approval with multiple recipients

    Hello,

I'm curious about something. If I have the approval email in a workflow going to multiple recipients, does only the first person to respond decide definitively if the request is approved or denied? What happens if one of the other recipients were to attempt to approve or deny after the initial person has already approved or denied? In this situation, the workflow is set up to NOT require a login.

    Thanks!

    Hello Mark,

Although having multiple approvers for each approval step isn't possible yet. The closest that you can do is to create Parallel Approvals which sends request to multiple people and have one or all of them decide on the result. You can read more about Parallel Approvals on this page.

Well, it actually is possible not with Jotform alone, but I've set up an email distribution group and have the approvals going to that distribution group.

So far in testing, it appears to be working fine, although one of the recipients for some reason is being asked to log in to approve, while the others are not. Also, for some reason the option to require login for approval or not is missing on all of my approvals. See screenshot below:

Any idea what is happening with the require login for approval? I've tried in multiple browsers and endpoints.

I apologize I misunderstood your initial question. I'm glad you're able to figure out your approval workflow.

I've moved your other query to another thread for uniformity.

No problem. Thanks much! It's been very useful. We are not seeing duplicate approvals of the same items so far, so that's what made me wonder about it.

    Hi journeystn,

We have implemented multiple approval options. Now you can add multiple approvers and set approval completion rules. You can find these rules below:

    • Require response from majority

Approver responses will get until the majority of responses recieved. If there is a tie, the first response with the majority wins.

    • Require response from all

When all approvers have responded, the workflow will proceed using the outcome with the majority of responses. In the case of a tie, the majority outcome with the first response is used.

    • Require certain number of responses

Approver responses will get until the required number of responses is received. If there is a tie, the first response with the majority wins.

    • Require response from one person

The workflow will proceed using the outcome from the first response.
