I have entered an expiration date (1 month in the past) to test if this works, however it still allows new submissions. So I tried entering a date a few days in the future, then waited until that date had passed and it sill allowed new submissions to be made. I have tried this in several forms with the same result.
Also (may be related) I have never been able to use the Unique Question option on any of my forms - it always just displays no check with no drop-down values.
The Form I want to put an expiry date on right now is formID=41403247507953

Thank you for your detailed report. I will investigate these issues further and inform you.
While I'm working on it, you can disable your form from "Preferences > General Settings > Status".
