I have been trying for weeks to get my form calculation total to pass to paypal amount owed. I have viewed the videos and read the forums but am still unable to make it work. I am not a programmer so some of the language i have read is greek to me (pasting codes). Could you please let me know what i am doing wrong?

I checked your form and you were missing the brackets, that was why calculation was not working properly:
You can test and clone the corrected form:

Hi,
I checked your form and it appears you are not passing the value along:This is the settings menu attached to your payment field. Please change this to the field that you want forwarded to the payment category and you should be all set. Please let us know if you have any other questions and we will be happy to help.
Thank you for using Jotform!

The calculation is still not being transferred to the payment wizard (not showing total). Also, If i change to a "product" then I get message that the payment option has been integrated with paypal where as with the "donation" option, i am not receiving a message that is has been integrated. Thank you in advance for you assistance.

Hello ltaleagues,
I did check your form and found that you have added "$" symbol in the "Total Fee" calculation wizard itself. Please check the screenshot below:
Please be noted that adding a "$" sign in the output of your form calculation widget will make it a non numeric value and it will not be populated in your PayPal field.
I have removed the "$" symbol from the form calculation widget and it seems to have solved the issue. Please check the screenshot below:
Please take a look at the following cloned form and see if this works as expected. Feel free to clone this form for a closer look. The following guide should help you in form cloning: https://www.jotform.com/help/42-How-to-Clone-an-Existing-Form-from-a-URL
Hope this helps.
Do get back to us if you have any questions.
Thank you!
