I want to create a form with 5 drop down boxes to create a ranking system. For this there will be 5 variables (numbers 1 to 5).
Is there a away to restrict the drop down options they choose? ie. if the user selects number 2 on one of the drop down boxes, this option cannot be selected again on the additional 4 drop downs.
You advise would be greatly appreciated.

Please be noted that it is not possible to dynamically add or remove the option items from any drop box questions.
You may like to take a look at our "Dynamic Dropdowns" widget which you can configure to be loaded dynamically. Please take a look at the following sample demo form I created : http://form.jotformpro.com/form/41953085995974?
If the widget option does not work for you then only option is to download your form's full source code and add your own script to remove the items from your drop down fields.
You may also like to take a look at our conditions feature as well. Though you cannot dynamically load your drop down options but you can check the value and show a warning to your user.
Hope this helps.
