Geolocation Widget - Can I update its pinpoint based on input from Address field?

Hi... OK things are going great with JotForm but I have another question :) Ideally a user types in their address, and I can use some logic to update the pinpoint on the Geolocation widget, to what Google THINKS is their home... and if not the user will drag/drop a pinpoint on the map to actually locate their home using the widget.  Can this be done?

Hi,

The geolocation widget should automatically do exactly what you ask with the exception of basing on the users input.

The user can adjust the marker in case their home location is much further away from their geolocation.  If you must have the exact functionality, you may be able to do so with a custom script based off the field ID containing the address and a script that updates a google map.  Though I am not sure exactly the code to make this work, here is a guide on how to manually add and update a map to your form that may give you a start:

As I stated previously, you would need a script that updates this based on the information in your form, which may take quite a bit of setup.

1. Has an Address entry box

2. Has a map that jumps to the location once the user starts typing

3. The user can drag the marker to the specific location that will update the address they want to submit -

Does that sound like what you are looking for?

We will update you once there are any developments.

In the meantime, please try our other address auto-completion widgets - they don't have a map - but they update through Google Map's API to attempt an accurate address completion.

Thanks, Titus, I'll try it out.  Our application is for someone looking to have solar installed on their roof.  Very often Google Maps shows the incorrect house.  We would like someone to input their address, see the suggested pin in Google, then drag marker to correct house if Google has chosen the wrong location.  Then we can accurately make a preliminary estimate if their roof is a good fit for solar panels.

This is fantastic! Great to see JotForms respond to requests from customers like this.  We are using it now, the only improvement I could suggest is to allow us to set a "Default" Map location, rather than horn of Africa we'd love to show someone New England USA as the default.
