How to track submission update time and date?

I noticed the time & date do not get changed when editing a prior submission.

    Is it possible to:

    1) Update the time & date to the current submit date upon edit?

    2)

Have the option to create a new submission ID or keep the existing one if a revision is made?

    Thanks!

    Hello blanskydaves,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. The submission date keeps the date when the form was submitted originally. If you want to know the date when the form was edited, you can add a Date Picker Field which you can hide and setup to be automatically updated with the current date:

I moved your other question to a new thread and helped you with that here.

My form already uses the date picker and passes today's date and time through the form as a hidden value.
I use this field in my email form and my PDF form subject.
However, when I edit a submission, both the submission form and the PDF form retain the original submission time and date instead of updating to whatever the current time and date are based on the most recent edit.

    Hello blanskydaves,

After further checking, you will need to unhide the Date Picker Field, then let the users manually change the date on edit. Apologies on the previous info.

Unfortunately this doesn't fit my needs. I'd like to be able to track every revision separately so that I can see changes from one submission to the next.

Once a responder completes a submission, If they go back in to edit the Prior submission, I'd like it to be recorded as a separate submission entirely.

For example I look at my submissions list and it says I have 10 submissions, however the list only actually displays 6 because some submissions were edited & re-submitted with additional or altered info.

I need to be able to review the original & compare with the edited / updated data to confirm exactly what changed.

This should be possible by offering an optional form setting called something like "Separate Edits" which clears & re-generates a new submission id & time/date stamp when using the edit submission button.

    Hi blanskydaves!

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support,.

There is currently no method to track what has changed when a user edits a submission. The Edit Submission Link is meant to allow users to correct errors, or update old information.

However, if you want an instant, pre-written reply or a copy of what they initially submitted before editing the submission then you can set up an Autoresponder Email so you can receive a copy of what they initially sent.

    Here's how:

Click Settings at the top of the Form Builder.

Next, click Emails on the left panel.

Click the Add an email button.

    Then, select Autoresponder Email.

The "Separate Edits" is a good suggestion however, this is currently not an available function.

I have sent this to our back end developers as a feature request however we wont be able to provide a timeframe as this will be under approval and once we have an update we will reach out to you directly on this thread.

    Thanks blanskydaves!

I already have the auto responder email option setup, however, when going into the submissions panel in the jot form app, it does not show separate submissions for the original and the edit, even though it counts them as separate submissions.

The autoresponder is fine as long as the emails are retained. But in the event that an email is accidentally deleted or moved, there is currently no way through the app to view what was originally submitted versus what the edited or updated information is.

Since original submissions and edits are counted separately, it seems that they should be able to be viewed that way as well. This would provide a means to accurately track any updates or changes and verify the differences chronologically.

    Hello blanskydaves,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, the feature you're looking for isn't available at Jotform right now. My colleague already gone ahead and escalated your request to our developers, but when or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users also request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, we appreciate it.
