Google drive integration - include submission date in custom folder name

The custom folder name option in google drive integration is useful, but is there a way of including the submission date/time in the folder name, as well as the custom fields?

    Hi,

I don't think you can add the submission date. A workaround would be to add the DateTime field to your form and use this field to the Custom Folder Name settings. Default time should also be enable to the DateTime field:

Google drive integration include submission date in custom folder name Image 1 Screenshot 20

All you have to do is to get the Field Name: https://www.jotform.com/help/146-How-to-find-Field-IDs-Names and include it to the settings.

    Thanks

By the way, you can hide the DateTime field if you don't want the submitters to see it.

    Settings > Hide field:

Google drive integration include submission date in custom folder name Image 1 Screenshot 20

    Thanks

Thanks, but this doesn't seem to work. When I include the field's name, it just appears in the eventual folder name as I entered it (e.g. {formdate}). Is it something to do with it being a compound field? Can I use the element IDs instead? In my case, they are #year_11, #month_11, #day_11

I'm sorry for telling you without making a test. It seems you were right, it doesn't work using the DateTime field. Further testing the integration, I found out that only Full Name, Email, Submission ID and Form ID are allowed in the custom settings. I'm sorry, but I think this new feature is not designed to work with all other fields.

    Thanks

Ah, OK. Is this likely to be possible in future? If I use the other options for generating folder names, it is possible to get the submission datetime, it's just with the "custom" option that I can't. So it couldn't require much of a change to allow such functionality.

    Hello mlps,

I am creating a feature request and sending it to our back end team. Please be noted that creating a feature request does not ensure you that this feature will be implemented. It completely depends upon the feasibility and priority of our back end team.

We will get back to you as soon as we have any update from them.

    Thank you

Thanks. If it's possible that the feature could allow for the user's locale choice for the date format, that'd be very helpful.

Yes, I can confirm with you that my colleague has made a feature request ticket on behalf of you for this ability. Our developers will look it over and consider implementing it once they are able to get to your thread here. We can't promise any timeframe for something like this but should it be added then we will certainly update you here about it.

    Hello,

We have just enabled submission dates in custom folder names for google drive. Unfortunately, it does not support user date format but we are already working on it.

Please let us know if you spot a problem. Your feedback is quite appreciated.

    Kind regards

The feature seems to work well, but I  have found one bug.

When, in a custom Google Drive folder name, I include a field which turns out to be blank, the resulting Google Drive folder gets the name "New Folder" and the form PDF gets the filename ".pdf".

For example, if I use the custom name {field1}{field2}, but {field1} turns out to be blank when the user has completed the form, then the whole filename ends up blank, even though there is data in {field2}.

    Hello mlps,

Your message have reached my colleague.

I did try to test this scenario but again I am not able to replicate the issue. I am not sure about the reason but could be a location issue.

I have also sent a message to the concerned developer and he will get back to you when he is available.

    Thank you!

    I've realised I made a mistake.

The cause of the problem is not {field1} being empty (see previous example). The problem in fact appears to be caused by a checkbox.

Basically, there is a single checkbox on my form. When the box is checked, I get the blank filename problem I described. When the box is unchecked, everything works fine. This is strange, because the checkbox itself is not included in the custom filename.

The reason I made the mistake of thinking it was the blank field that was the problem, is because the checkbox is set up with a condition to clear the field when it is checked. However, when I disable all the conditional rules on the form, I still get the problem that when the checkbox is checked, the integration does doesn't work. Very strange.

UPDATE: I tried removing the checkbox from the form - submission works fine. Then I added a new single checkbox to the form and the problem came back as before.

Even though you are reporting a bug for relation to this new feature I've split it off into a new thread since it is technically a new issue for a feature that was added.
