Issues with Paypal Pro

I have got 2 issues trying to use Paypal Pro.

    1) When trying to pay with a credit card with Paypal Pro, I get the following error message "Merchant Country unsupported". OK, my Paypal Pro account is European/French.

However when using Paypal option (Paypal radio button selected), I do get a "native Paypal" Credit Card paiement option which is working fine.

How could I suppress the jotform Credit Card option which is not working to force my clients to go through the native Paypal interface?

    2) The French translation of the Credit Card fields is a joke (not to say un-professional).

"Credit Card number" is translated as "nmra diyal la carte" while it should be "Nº de carte" (copied from Paypal...)

"Security code" is translated as "Code de sécurité ilove me" while it should be "Cryptogramme visuel" (copied from Paypal...)

It doesn't take many years of learning French to guess that "ilove me" is not an appropriate translation.

"Street address" is translated as "Adresse de la rue" while it should be "Ligne d'adresse 1" (copied from Paypal...)

"Street address line 2" is translated as "nom de la rue ; 2ème ligne" while it should be "Ligne d'adresse 2 (facultatif)" (copied from Paypal...)

More generally, the French translation is quite weak and sometimes just misleading/unusable. Another example: in the Condition Wizard, when trying to combine rules both "Any" (OR) and "All" (AND) are translated to "Tous"... while the correct translation should be "Au moins une" (OR) et "Toutes" (AND)

If you need someone to review the French translation, I can help...

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Your Paypal Pro account must be registered using US, UK and Canada address. Otherwise, you can't use it to your form. Paypal Pro isn't available to sellers outside the three mentioned countries.

    Use Paypal Standard instead:

Using Paypal Standard, your form users should still be able to pay using Credit and Debit card in the Paypal Standard Payment page.

    Thanks

The issue I have is that with the "standard" Paypal widget, the client seems to have to have a Paypal account (yes the "Optional account" option has been configured on the Paypal side) (see other thread).

The only workaround found so far is to manually edit the generated code (using the Paypal Pro widget) to remove the Credit Card option.... A bit clumsy!

The Paypal API information is also available to customers outside US, UK and Canada!

So it seems that what I need is something in between the Paypal and the PayPal Pro widgets: go to a Paypal page but be identified through the API info rather than through the email address... ie disable the Credit Card option in PayPal Pro!

That is actually not an issue related to us as far as I know of and to my knowledge I don't think we are currently having any issues with this since I've seen the credit card part work for most. If that were the case I think we would be getting a lot of reports about it filling up our forum so that we could turn around and fix it. The Standard PayPal is designed for use with just PayPal whereas PayPal Pro uses PayPal including an option to choose a Credit Card.

This is the reason you see the email used for Standard and API used for Pro because it is supposed to identify it that way with and without credit cards accordingly. This means that you shouldn't have to work around and remove it. Usually when there is a problem or error most of the time it is because something in isn't configured configured correctly.

Please see https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/howto_product_matrix/ is a break down of Paypal's product availability per country.

The PayPal documentation is quite clear Direct Payment in only supported in the US and in the UK and Canada (under the brand Website Payment Pro).

So it just cannot work for me. It is actually consistent with the error message I am getting   "Merchant Country unsupported" coming from PayPal.

For the sake of double-checking, I have created a UK account in my Paypal Sandbox environment.  The direct payment are going through OK. So it doesn't have to do with a configuration issue.

Indeed, it is not related to you, but every time someone with an account outside US, UK and Canada will try to receive a direct payment it will fail.

Hence, it would be nice, if direct payment could be disabled  when the account is outside US, UK or Canada...

As checked and confirmed by your colleague in the other thread

    http://www.jotform.com/answers/407647-Paypal-optional-Paypal-account

when using the simple "PayPal" widget, customers are required to have a PayPal account... (and yes the proper option "Optional Account" has been selected - but you need to go through the API rather than the email as identification for it to be effective.).

-I have responded to your first thread: https://www.jotform.com/answers/407647 and give you some custom CSS codes to disable or hide the Credit Card option from Paypal Pro tool. Please kindly check.

Registration in Paypal Standard Payment page is optional when you pay using Credit Card. You just need to leave the "Save your information with PayPal" option empty and just click "Continue" button:
