From Field issue - now showing noreply@jotmail.com

Asked by ultraseps on July 30, 2014 at 12:54 PM

I've had this problem before and now it suddenly surfaced again without me doing anything to the form.  I've attached a screenshot of the problem.

The From Field contains the name of the person requesting information however the return address is noreply@jotform.com and not their email address as it should to be.  This makes it impossible to easily export the email addresses from Outlook as the reply is now always noreply@jotform.com.

Additionally, the auto reply sent to the user filling out the form now suddenly uses noreply@jotform.com and not my return address????  See bottom of screenshot.

    How can this be fixed????

    Thank you for contacting us.

In order to fix the reply email issue, please specify the form email field as the 'Reply-to E-mail' on Email Notification settings:

The Autoresponder 'From' address can be changed from settings too, but you will need to add your verified email to the system. Please follow the next article:

How to Add a Custom Sender Address to an Email Alert

Please feel free to contact us if you need any further assistance. We will be happy to help.

The auto responder now works correctly using the verified email address as the sender, although my notification email is still a problem.

If clicking "Reply", it does reply to the email that filled out the form, however it still lists noreply@jotmail.com as the sender so when exporting the email addresses to a file, all you get is every address exported as noreply@jotmail.com.  This behavior started on its own sometime in July.

The only way around this seems to inserting the valid email address variable as the Subject of my notification.  I tried this with a cloned form and that works.  Then I can at least export the Subject Field and get the email addresses written to a text file.

The 'form email field as the sender' option was removed about a year ago, but it was removed from new forms only. The old forms with their settings were not supposed to be affected by that change. There is a chance that you have recently resaved the form notification, and these old changes were reverted to the new settings.

Actually, it is still possible to use form email field as the sender address, but the extra steps required:

Set Email Field as the Notification Sender Email Address with Mandrill

    Thank you.

In all due respect, needing to go through all these new options and setting up different accounts, settings, etc is ridiculous.  I'll just use the valid email address variable as the Subject of the notification sent to me so I can export addresses.

    Really bad idea removing this.

    Hello ultraseps,

I'm sorry for the trouble caused to you.

As mentioned by my colleague that we did have this option earlier but we had to withdraw this feature because of security concerns.

As suggested by my colleague, you can still use Mandrill account to set the "Sender Email" as the email field of your form. The following guide should help you:  http://www.jotform.com/help/240-Set-Email-Field-as-the-Notification-Sender-Email-Address-with-Mandrill

    Thank you!
