Where is Markdown editor option for Long text fields

I am trying to put formatted text in a field using a condition to calculate field if a certain option is selected.

In previous posts I have seen you need to enable the Markdown editor in the general tab of the long text field.

I am not sure if theres been updates where this has been removed, but there is no such option for my long text fields.

Where can I find this option so I can use formatting in the conditions calculate field.

    Cheers,

    Hi wally.Arndt,

Thanks for reaching out to us for help. Sure, you can calculate the Age and Age Group automatically on your form. Let me show you how:

    • In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element + menu on the left side of the page.
    • Scroll down and add the Date Picker field to enter the Date of Birth.

    • To save the current date, add one more Date Picker field.
    • Click on the Gear icon near the second Date Picker and under the Options tab, select the Current value as Default Date.
    • Then, right-click on the second one and click on Hide.

    • Now, open the Add Form Element + menu again, and Under the Widgets tab, add the Form Calculation widget and enter the formula below:

    • As the last field, instead of using a dropdown menu, circle back to the Add Form Element + menu and add a Short Text field to save the Age Group. As another option, in the Short Text Properties window, under the Advanced tab, set it as Read-Only to stop it from changing manually.

    • To populate the last field automatically, click on the Settings tab in the orange navigation bar at the top of the page.
    • In the menu on the left side of the page, click on Conditions.
    • Now, use the Update/Calculate Field element to create conditional rules for each Age Group.

    Hey,

I think you might be replying to the wrong support request here. I am looking for a way to put formatted text into a long test field using a condition to calculate field based on if another field is equal to a certain value.

I had found a previous post where someone asked, and they were told you can use html formatting in the calculate field condition after enabling the Markdown editor option in the general properties of the Long Text field. The problem I am finding is there doesn't seem to be an option for Markdown editor anymore.

So I need to know how I can use formatting in the calculate field condition as when I use html formatting in their atm it does not work.

    Thanks

    Hi Wally,

Thanks for getting back to us. I tried to check on my end and can confirm that the Markdown Text Editor is also not available. I’ll need a bit of time to look into this. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

I cannot use the card layout on the form.

Is there any other way to insert text with formatting (some bits bolded, hyperlinks, etc etc) into a long rich text field based on the value of another field.

I tried using html tags in the update/calculate a field condition and couldnt get it to work.

    Hello wally.arndt,

Thanks for your feedback. I've checked and it is possible to achieve your requirements using the Long Text field. You can switch the Editor Mode from its properties to Rich Text as shown on the screenshot below:

Then, you can use conditional logic to put desired texts with formatting. You can use the standard HTML and CSS formatting to put the text with the desired styling options:

Here's the demo form I've created to demonstrate it: https://form.jotform.com/221764908658065

We also have a guide on how to insert text into a field using conditional logic that you can check out. Give it a try and let us know if you have any other questions.
