Why isn't all the data coming through to my email when boxes are checked on my form?

Asked by bbest on August 30, 2011 at 08:03 AM

    Hi,

I created a form in jotform and then inserted it onto my webpage. However when I sent myself a test form some of the fields aren't being submitted in the data.

You can view the page here:

    http://www.fortedev.co.uk/beckie/funkyartvark/order.html

Specific data that isn't coming through are the canvas sizes. Do I need to add something to the html or css for it to come through?

    Many thanks,

    Beckie

I received the info below as  email when I clicked submit on the form even though I checked canvas 8x8 and canvas 16x16: Is it coming through as 'Array Array Array Array Array Array Array' by mistake?

    Hi Beckie,

    Thank you for using JotForm.

I've tried replicating your issue on our end and I've found that the form's full source code has been edited before embedding. You might have altered some field's ID which causes it to be excluded from the contents of your notification email. The best thing I would suggest is for you to redesign the form from JotForm's Form Builder and embed it with iFrame. Or, you can also again copy the form's full source code and re-edit it but do not touch any field's ID or name, only the appearance. Hope this helps.

If you have further issues and concerns, please feel free to contact us again. Our team would be more than happy to assist you with anything.

    Many thanks for your reply,

The reason why I had to edit it so much outside of the form builder is because I couldn't find a way of adding text fields in the payment wizard and adding conditional statements within the payment field itself - it allows you to show a field outside the payment field once a box has been checked but I can't find a way of showing a field inside the payment field when a box has been checked. And if there was a way to add text fields as well as the drop downs which you can do, it would be perfect, I could build the whole form in form builder but without these options it is proving very difficult.

If you have any ideas please let me know,

    Many thanks,

    Beckie

    Hi there,

Unfortunately, having conditions inside a payment integration is currently not available with JotForm. However, I'll try to add this to our feature request list and hopefully, our developers can integrate this in the near future. For the mean time, I do have an idea on how a field would be included to your email notification even after editing it. I've done this before in a somewhat similar situation and it worked.

First, navigate to your form and add the required fields including the ones that are essential for your conditions. After which, get the form's full source code and paste it in any text editor or IDE such as Dreamweaver or Notepad ++. Edit the code with the needed alterations as stated above but use the same id and names for any altered fields. This is for the purpose of still including them into your email notification even after editing. I've discussed this thoroughly on my second post through this thread. http://www.jotform.com/answers/39127-Edit-start-and-end-time

Hope this helps. If you do need further clarifications, please feel free to contact us again.

    Hi,

    Many thanks for your answer.

I've managed to insert the conditional fields inside the payment field but just to make sure I've done it right... before they were in an <li class="form-line" id="x"></li> tag but to put it into the payment field I've had to change the 'li class' tag to a 'div class' tag instead but kept everything else the same.

Will this still work in the email notification?

    Thanks,

    Beckie

    Hi,

No worries, we're always glad to help!

For your last question, since <li> tags are not included in your email notifications, it should still work.

If you have any other questions, feel free to drop us a message and our team will be more than happy to help you with anything.
