Edit submission - request to load the form within the website the form is embedded to

    Hello JF

We have a form embedded in a couple dozen web pages on our site--one for each agency we work with.

The form includes the Get Form Page URL widget.

The agencies always send the users to the web page we created for them.

Some of the submissions show "https://submit.jotform.com/" instead of the web page in which the forms are embedded.

Please help. We need it to work consistently.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support.  Please note that when the form is submitted, it is always submitted through a submit URL such as (submit.jotform.com). Most probably those submissions are made using direct form links.

I cloned your form and tested it to see if I could replicate the issue, but everything was working properly. Check out the screenshot below to see my results:

Can you please submit a test submission from any of the websites and see if you can replicate the issue?

We look forward to assisting you further.

    Hello

We know how it is supposed to work. We use JF all the time, often with that widget.

If you look at the submission table, you will see that many (not all) show the jotform URL instead of our URLs. We have not provided anyone the jotform URL; it has only been used when we were testing.

    Thank you!
    Robert

    Hi JF

I see the problem. If you look at the submission data, you will see that all the submissions that show "jotform" in the URL were edited.

So it appears that if someone completes a form embedded in one of our pages, the data shows the page in which it is embedded. But if they edit the form, that field is changed from our page URL to a jotform URL, so then we no longer know which page (in this case, which agency) they came from. That is a disaster.

For now, I have removed the edit links from the thank you page and email autoreply. That is not a great solution.

    What is the solution?

    thanks

    Hi Robert,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I understand that when the responder edits their submissions entry, the Get Page URL returns the Jotform URL instead of the URL of your website where the form is embedded.

The edit link will always load the form within Joform. I understand that the form was embedded in your website. But once the user clicks on the edit link, the form to edit will load outside your website URL. That is the reason why the Get Page URL is returning the Jotform URL instead of your Website URL.

I am not pretty sure if it can be fixed by altering the form source code as you embed it on your website. This will be advanced programming which your IT guy may give some input.

This is a good add-on feature for Jotform to have. When a form is edited, there should be an easier way to load the form within the website that it was embedded.

I've sent a request to our Developers team to look into it. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Reach out again if there’s anything else we can help you with.
