We are suddenly getting a huge number of form hits

This looks like a hack, our form hits jumped from like 300 to 2,400 in the last couple days.

How can we block these IP addresses from hitting our forms or control this so that IP's outside of the US/Canada cannot make submissions?

    Hi,

Unfortunately we do not currently have the ability to restrict form access based on geographic location.  Even if you could block based on a set of IP addresses, using a VPN would still get around this.  You can however limit the number of submissions per IP address or based on various other criteria:

Please let us know if you have any further questions and we will be happy to help.

I see we would setup placing a limit on form submissions based on IP address would work within jotform. But I wanted to clarify how this plays out for the user, so to clarify:

Does this mean that if I set the limit to 1 submission per IP address, then jotform will allow only 1 submission from that particular computer. This could still be avoided by using a different computer or a VPN, is this correct?

Placing a limit of 1 submission on a particular IP address would not block more than a single computer, so it wouldn't block like all IP's being served from a particular area?

I just want to make sure that placing a limit would not block everyone submitting forms from a certain IP location, or being served from the same area or server.

    Hi,

Limiting the form based on IP allows for only 1 submission per IP address.  This helps to prevent against spammers filling out the form multiple times.  This would also limit legitimate users to 1 submission.  Yes this also could be avoided by using a different computer or a VPN.  It would not however, block a block of IP's for an area, only the particular one associated with the submission.

I hope this clarifies things a bit.  If you have any further questions let us know.
