Paypal and IPNs

Is it required that I set up my Paypal with IPN?

I ask, because I would like to use your most excellent form tool in conjunction with our Paypal account to receive race entry fees for our fundraiser.

Your instructions when using Paypal say SHOULD with regard to setting up the IPN

Does this mean it will work and we will get our payments without that?

Hoping that's the case - having trouble wrapping my head around IPN Handler Programs PLUS we don't really need that instant feedback.

No, it is not required. As long as your Paypal IPN is enabled then that would be fine.
