is it possible to select one choice on a drop down and it auto select a choice on another drop down box?

Asked by chutchins on September 07, 2011 at 11:01 AM

So say I had a specific event in a drop down that i wanted to select. When I select that event I would then want it to auto select the event and cpt code in another drop down box because that goes with the specific event. is this possible or do you have another solution?

    Hi,

Unfortunately, no, the action to fill out other form fields is not available in the conditonal wizard yet. If you can share us a bit more information regarding your form's workflow, we might come up with a useful suggestion.

Do you intend to show this event and cpt code to your user? Or do you just want the form to automatically assign an event and cpt code to a form submission for easier back-end processing (i.e., no need to look up the codes in a separate reference document)?

we are using this form within our PRactice for insurance verificatrion. We would like to pick the event and the cpt codes are assigned to this event so that we can call and get auth for those specific codes. We would like to see them upfront, but we are also going to be using it in the backend to upload into our EMR.  does this make since? so basically i want it to do both show the user the codes and assign an event and cpt code to the form for easier back end processing.

    Christy,

Here is a workaround I concocted for you. The idea is to assign each cpt code to a separate radio button and have these codes selected by default. For example:

You can just duplicate the radio button to make it a little easier. After creating the radio buttons, set up conditions in your form that will show a specific code for chosen event option in your drop down field.

What happens is that when a certain event is chosen, the radio button field with the corresponding cpt codes is displayed. Now since the other radio buttons are hidden, they will not be assigned any value, so in the back-end, you will see only one cpt code so long as Auto Hide Empty Fields is checked:

The downside to this is that your notification is flooded with question and answers for all the radio buttons you created.

It is possible to fix that by editing the notification. Let me know when you need help with it.

I'll be waiting for your feedback. Thanks!
