Extention files for "file upload" issue

On the "Drag and Drop Upload widget" there is an option to "leave empty to allow all files". How do you allow all files with the regular "File upload" field (not the widget). If I leave it empty, it won't allow to upload anything. (I tried). Thank you.

If you want to allow all files in your regular upload, just type * (asterisk) in the extension tab then press OK. See image below to see it clearer:
