How to import an Excel file to Jotform ?

Asked by Nicolas  on September 10, 2014 at 11:49 AM

We have a Excel file that contains all of our rental items. We used to send the file to each of our custumer by email.

Each customer enter the number of each item he needs and then send back the file by email.

We would like to bypass the email communication and do everything on Jotform.

Is it possible to import our Excel without re-entering all the items in a new jotform ?

    Thanks

Yes that is possible but you have to edit the excel file to match the fields that the form has. This will add to your submissions data and won't affect your existing one.

Please see this thread http://www.jotform.com/answers/420990 my colleague created a sample of how the import data app works.

    Hi,

    thanks for your answer.

I think I didn't explain well enough what I want to do.

In fact, I would like to transpose my existing Excel into a new jotform and never use again my Excel.

I would like to transpose all our inventory listed in our Excel into a new jotform.

Each item, each quantity, each accessories related to each item, etc

So, this way, our clients could choose, let's say,

    Item 1      Qty : 2

    Item 2      Qty: 4

    Item 3      Qty: 1

Each client would click "submit" and then we receive what they need to rent.

With the Import App, you have to work with Excel. We don't want that.

    Thanks

I get what you mean, You want to migrate all your files to jotform, right? The only way to import excel file is by using that app.

If you will be transferring all your data to jotform using the import data app, you'll just be doing it once. Once your inventory file has been imported to Jotform it will be reflected in your submission page. By the way, the import data will import file to your submissions page. There is no other application that I know that has an import feature.

You can also make a spreadsheet report through Jotform if you want to generate a report of your form.
