Is it possible to limit submissions per option?

    Hello.

We are looking for a way of limiting the number of submissions per option on a form. We've set up a form which parents of students in our school can use to book places on various after-school activities.

I understand that it is possible to set a maximum number of submissions for a form, after which the form will be closed for further submissions. However, this is not what we want. The form that we've set up offers a choice of 14 activities, but the number of places available for each activity is not the same. Is there a way of limiting the number of times a particular activity is selected, e.g. the first activity offered is called Mad Science, and may have only 50 places available, so after 50 submissions selecting this activity have been made, this option should no longer be available.

    Is this possible within JotForm?

I think you basically want to limit your submissions based on a field selection.

If that's correct then yes that is possible. Please see http://www.jotform.com/help/223-How-to-set-Form-Limits-Based-on-a-Unique-Question which I believe you will find useful.

Thank you for the response, but I don't think it's what I'm looking for.  The article that you sent a link to seems to be about ensuring that unique values are entered in a text box - the example given in the article is about unique cell phone numbers.

On our form we have a radio box option listing the 14 activities that are available.  We need some way of ensuring that only a certain number of submissions per option can be made, e.g. 50 submissions for the first option, 18 for the second, 45 for the third, and so on.  All other values on the form do not have to be unique per submission.  Can this be done?

You can use our widget like Inventory, Gift Registry or Ticket Purchase widgets. As far as I know they all have similar features that counts the numbers of submissions per item.

I used a ticket purchase widget in my example. Let us know if this is not what you are looking for.

The Gift Registry widget looks like it will do what we need, so thank you for the link!

    Hi,

On behalf of my colleague you are very welcome.  Let us know if the gift registry widget does not end up suiting you needs, or any of the other listed for that matter, we also have an appointment slots widget that does something very similar:

Hello, this is exactly what I needed to learn about today. The form is for people signing up for food items to bring to an event - so many cakes, so many pies, etc. I will also take a look at the appointment slots widget to see what it does. Thanks!

Glad to hear it!  If you have any trouble getting things setup in your form, just create a new thread letting us know the form you are working on and we will be happy to help.

Can we then have those amounts pass values on to a calculation field which then passes into paypal widget?
