Auto Complete Widget: adding large number of options

    Hi,

I know this is an old thread but my question is identical and Abajan makes some relevent points that I would like to track.

As it is an old thread I would like to check the thinking on this.

I would like to put in 1500 names that 1500 respondents could write the first three letters of their first name and bingo ... done.

Is there an issue with this many names using the Auto Complete Widget ... before I go down this route and find it can't work.

    Thanks Mark

    Hi markashton,

I tried putting 2,000 names and 10,000 words using the Auto Complete Widget and it works fine. But you might not be able to get the exact name with 3 letters only, it could be 4-5 letters. It actually depends on the list because it does the auto complete alphabetically with the letters you typed in the field.

Although it will only show 100 results on the popup, that is the default. You also need to consider that it will slow down the loading time of the web page.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Jan,

In properties ... if you change fuzzy search to No ... Bingo ... does it alpabetically from the beginning of the phrase rather than "the string" anywhere in the phrase.

Looks like it is a goer for around 1500 entries then.

    I'll stress test it

    Thnaks Mark
