    Dear Support Staff,

Is it possible to combine 2 input fields to be the input value of the Spreadsheet to Form

    e.g.

    • input field A = room number (1234)
    • input field B = wings (east)
    • input value for spreadsheet to form = 1234 east

    Thanks

    Hi Asia,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Keep in mind that Jotform’s Spreadsheet to Form widget allows you to upload an external spreadsheet to your form and use the values on the spreadsheet to prepopulate your form. Values are automatically populated when the column headings match your form field labels.

So I'm not quite sure about combing 2 input fields to be the input value of the Spreadsheet to form. Are you perhaps referring to passing the input values to Google Sheets? Can you explain a bit more so I can help you better?

Thanks for your rapid reply. In my form the

    • input field A = room number (1234)
    • input field B = wings (east/west)
    • expected value passing to spreadsheet to form = say 1234 east

In my excel sheet, field A and field B are actually in one column with value 1234 east or 1234 west

In order to avoid user input an invalid value (like small/capital letter eE or wW or even with space), I am planning to control the input of the user, i.e.

    • field A only numeric like "1234"
    • field B with single choice of "east or west"

so value of field A and B could be combined together as 1234 east or 1234 west and passes for searching as the key in the single column of excel sheet (1234 east), and the rest information of the excel sheet will be populated to the form.

    Hi Asia,

Thank you for reaching out to Jotform Support. Can you explain a bit more about your feedback so I can get a better idea on how we can help. Can you send us the link to your form and share your google sheet so we can take a look at it for you.

Once we have a better idea of what’s going on, we’ll be able to come up with a solution.

My form is in Chinese, and I'm not sure if you are able to get how it works.

    here is the link https://form.jotform.com/Asia_Plaza/enquiry

To make my question simple, is there function of

    1. concatenate 2 input fields into one and
    2. pass the concatenated value as an input to spreadsheet to form

FYI, it is nothing to do with google sheet, it is just the user input instantly 2 data value to the form and with spreadsheet to form, it populated the excel value for the user to confirm and submit.

    Thanks

    Hi Asia_Plaza,

Thanks for getting back to us. To concatenate field values from 2 different fields, you do that using the Form Calculation widget. The widget will take the values from multiple fields and string them together into one field.

You can also check our related guide on How to Perform Form Calculation Using a Widget.

To pass a value to the Spreadsheet to Form widget with a condition, you can check  Spreadsheet to Form widget.

Give it a try and reach out again if you have any other questions.

    Hi dear,

I believe this can't solve my problem, the Form Calculation widget is to deal with numeric value calculation, what my 2 fields are non-numeric fields.

For my 2nd request, it is to pass the concatenated value as an input to spreadsheet to form, that means user doesn't input the value to the spreadsheet to form, it just captured from field 1 and field 2 which the user input previously.

    • input field 1 = 1234
    • input field 2 = east
    • expected value passing to spreadsheet to form = 1234 east (that is field 1 concatenates with field 2)

    Thanks

    Hi Asia_Plaza,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. My colleagues have tried to find a workaround in the previous responses. It's sad to hear that it wouldn't work out for you.

While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform.

I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.
