I want to just use a users first name in subsequent questions, at the moment I can only use {name} and it gives the first and second name which is not very personal.

Hello Neil,
Thank you for contacting Jotform Support. I understand that you would like to use the first name only in subsequent questions. I noticed that you're using a Card Form and you're using the Full Name Element. Unfortunately, it's not possible to separate the Full Name since it is considered one unique name/value.
If you want, you can add an additional field below the Full Name like Short Text, specify it as a Nickname and use the Unique Name in other fields. This way, your form will look more friendly.
Let me show you how:
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

Could I just create a short text element for first and last name and use them separately? Would that create problems with data collection?

Hello Neil,
Absolutely! You can use a short text element to separate the full name(one for the first name and one for the last name). It shouldn't be a problem and when you access your Jotform Tables, it will create a separate column for each question. It would be more detailed and concise, especially when collecting data.
Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.
