This is also the first feature I am looking for as I could not find any easy way to achieve this previously - but "enable form columns" is not shown to me when I open the Form Designer ???

I can see the option for "Make this form responsive"

(I hope when it is all final that columns and responsive will not be mutually exclusive)

    Help please

    Thanks, Rick

    Hello Rick,

Please be noted that this option shall be visible only when we have some fields shrunk on the JotForm.

    Thank you Kiran

I've had chance to test it now and whilst the check box offering responsive design now appears according to your instructions I have to say that it does not play well with two column layouts! (I'll spare all the screenshots I think this is easily seen in any test when re-sizing the window).

Also, one has no control of what sits side-by-side - the two column option just simply puts alternate fields next to one another. But a designer may wish to put, for example, all 'general info' in the left div and then 'advanced questions' in the right div (but keep the tab order logical).

I won't offer any other explanations at this stage, I just wanted to add something for other users who are looking at these options.

The 'Form Designer' is certainly a big step forward though. For single column forms it does offer some better control

    - however, I did find changing background colors for 'Highlight' and 'Error State' was somewhat buggy (not applying the changes).

Keep up the good development JotForm!

    Thank you!

    Rick

    Hi Rick,

The idea of the two column layout is based on the Field Positioning option that is present in the form builder. You have to position your fields first before adjusting the layout using the Form Designer. In the form builder, you will notice the alignment is not that perfect. Enabling Two column layout in the form builder would align the fields correctly. For example,

    In the form builder:

Enable form columns option is not shown to me when I open the Form Designer ? Image 1 Screenshot 30

After enabling the Two Colum layout:

Enable form columns option is not shown to me when I open the Form Designer ? Image 2 Screenshot 41

Also, one has no control of what sits side-by-side - the two column option just simply puts alternate fields next to one another.........

-I think you are correct about this, but again, the two column layout is based on the field positioning function in the form builder.

But a designer may wish to put, for example, all 'general info' in the left div and then 'advanced questions' in the right div (but keep the tab order logical).

-I think our developers are already aware of this option. We are in the beta release and hopefully, this will be implemented in the future. Maybe, a separate control or option in the Form Designer tab. Selections of what's here and there :)

With regards to error background and color, I have moved it to a new thread. Please check it here: https://www.jotform.com/answers/445482.

    Thank you!
