I cant use any widgets. It just displays a captcha textbox.

Every time I access Jotform I am sent to a captcha page. This prevents me from using any widgets!! 

I can search and select a widget, but when I get it onto my form, it just shows the following inside the form box:

 

One more step Please complete the security check to accesswidgets.jotform.io

If I understand the issue correctly, when you add a widget and then access your form it just shows a captcha textbox instead of the widget. Is that correct?

I would suggest you to input the captcha text you see and that should solve your problem. Sometime the CDN ask for captcha for security reason but then its just a one time process. I believe once you input the captcha, this issue should be resolved.
