[Authorize.Net] Request to allow first time payment to be less that the reglar subscription fee

Asked by jerrywat on November 21, 2014 at 02:44 PM

I am trying to set up a book club subscription program using authorize.net. There will be 6 different clubs available.

    Issue 1

I entered my api and transaction code and got confirmation that it is working. On the next screen I select subscription and when I try to advance it says switching to subscription from selling products will remove all my payment information. I don't know how I set up products or why it says this.

    Issue 2

If I accept that and go on to the next page to set up my various clubs. some of the clubs have a different first month price than the regular price. When I enter that it returns an error saying the first month must equal regular price plus set up fee. The regular price is $13.98 per month and I just want the first month to be $6.99.

    How do I do this?

    Thanks

    Hi,

Based on what you have mentioned under issue 1 I must first ask if you are trying to add both products and subscriptions to the Authorize.net?

I should note that you can have either one or the other on one jotform, you can not set it up to have both.

Depending on this answer we will know how to proceed with the 2nd issue as well.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

I am trying to set up a form where I have 6 book clubs available. They run from 5 to 12 months. I am shipping a product because I will ship books out every month. I assumed I had to sign up as a subscription in order to have payments automatically made each month. In some of the clubs the first month is less than the other months. Is this possible?

I entered my api and transaction code and got confirmation that it is working. On the next screen I select subscription and when I try to advance it says switching to subscription from selling products will remove all my payment information. I don't know how I set up products or why it says this.

It means that we do not save added items (products) when you switch between products/subscriptions. Please ignore that warning since you use subscriptions only.

If I accept that and go on to the next page to set up my various clubs. some of the clubs have a different first month price than the regular price. When I enter that it returns an error saying the first month must equal regular price plus set up fee. The regular price is $13.98 per month and I just want the first month to be $6.99.

Unfortunately, this is not currently possible to have the first payment less than the regular price with our Authorize.Net integration. Our Trial Amount (first payment) at Authorize.Net integration can be set either to 0 or to >= regular monthly price.

I have attached a ticket to this thread and escalated it to our Development Team to see if we can adjust the integration to allow the first time payments less that the regular subscription price.

We will let you know if we have any updates on this.

    @jerrywat

You may now charge a lower initial payment for your Authorize.Net subscriptions. Please do note, however, that the first payment is considered a paid trial period.

    Hope this helps!
