How to duplicate conditions together with properties, calculations, etc.

    Hi,

I would like to duplicate a complete section including much fields: all of them have got conditions and calculations also. I'd like to keep this properties, values also.

If I duplicate any field or use "Manage Multiple Fields" and duplicate multiple fields in one time, the contents of fields (calculations and conditions) won't be "come" into the new fields.
Have I any option to make a simple "copy and paste" function and duplicate field(s) with contents together?

    An example:

    Section 1:

    RADIO_BUTTON1:
    1
    2
    3

    RADIO_BUTTON2:
    1
    2
    3

CALC1 (value of it by a condition:
IF RADIO_BUTTON1 GREATER THAN 1 AND RADIO_BUTTON2 GREATER THAN 1
    THEN
"ALL SELECTIONS ARE GREATER THAN 1"

    ...else some other text value...

I would like to copy the whole Section 1 into a Section 2 and get results after duplication:

    Section 2:

    RADIO_BUTTON1_2:
    1
    2
    3

    RADIO_BUTTON2_2:
    1
    2
    3

CALC2_1 (value of it by a condition:
IF RADIO_BUTTON1 GREATER THAN 1 AND RADIO_BUTTON2 GREATER THAN 1
    THEN
"ALL SELECTIONS ARE GREATER THAN 1"

    ...else some other text value...

Then I can edit calculations from RADIO_BUTTON1 to RADIO_BUTTON1_2 - it would be more easy and fast than rebuild all of calculations and conditions from zero, find all of fields again in calculation window etc....

...it would be so good :-)

    Thank you

    Noemi

You can duplicate conditions from the conditions wizard , simply click on the Duplicate Condition (+)  button so you'll be able to update it with the new elements.

    Hello Jeanette,

    thanks for your reply!

Thanks for your suggestion, it's a good alternative solution, and causes only one extra step related to our requested method.

    Thanks again,

    Hi Noemi,

In behalf of my colleague, you're most welcome.

I would also like to note that even if you will duplicate one section of your conditions, you will still need to edit the fields that will be use under the conditions and rules setting. But with the duplicate function, you can, as you mentioned, make the process shorter.

If you need more assistance on this, feel free to get back to us.

    Thank you.

    Hi Charlie,

thank you... I understand this method (duplication of a section of conditions) and use it also, I just tried to suggest another solution (option) to duplication via a new option "Duplicate field with its properties" - but your workaround is OK also :-)

As I said, I use this method and sometimes I see if I select an earlier section of condition and duplicate it by pressing '+' button, then an other section of conditions is duplicating :-)
It means, if a field has got more conditions (e.g. 5), then I open condition window related to this field, select the last condition section, press the '+' - and then e.g. 3rd or 4th section will be duplicated instead of last one :-) It looks like a randomly situation, other times it works correctly.

It's not an important bug, but I thought it is good to talk about it :-)

    Friendly

    Hi Noemi,

We appreciate your feedback, it seems though you also noticed some random bug-like in the duplicate function of the form builder. I've created a separate thread so that we can focus on one topic per thread post. Please refer to this link for that update: http://www.jotform.com/answers/470811.

Feel free to to contact us again if you need any help, have concerns or want to share some information or experience in our form builder.

    Thank you.
