    Unable to download PDF files

Asked by drjax on December 11, 2014 at 09:53 PM

When I click the PDF link on the email I receive, I get the following error message:

    {"error":"WKPDF didn't return any data.

What in the world causes such an error?

    Hi Jack,

Could you please send us the link of your form that has a problem about downloading the PDF?

Or just try change your PDF link to this link below, maybe this should help to resolve your issue.

The link to my form is: https://secure.jotform.us/form/43108723145146  It just happened again.  The info arrives properly in my email, but I get the same error as above if I click the pdf link.

I added the pdf link using the Compose Email page for that form (to establish where the submit button sends the completed form).  It seems to work on all other forms I have.

Is that option somehow corrupted now?

    Hi Jack,

Our apologies! I tried to cloned your from and I did test email and the PDF link it seems work fine.

Do you still encounter this issue? if so, please get back to us and we should fix this issue. But in the meantime use "{pdf-link}" on your Compose Email to insure you can get the PDF files in your email submissions.

    Hi Val,

I already DID use the Compose Email {pdf-link} as I do on all my forms.  This is the only form where it isn't working properly for me.  For other forms,  when the submission arrives in my email, I just click the "Download Submission PDF" and the pdf opens perfectly.  Only this one form is having this problem.  If you can track down the reason and fix it that would be wonderful.

I've just discovered that none of my forms will open pdf submission.  Also, it doesn't matter if I use Firefox or IE.  Used to work fine.  Wonder what happened.

Our apologies! could you try cloned your form and make it live test, because I cloned your form and I didn't encounter any problem on your PDF link.

Here is the guide on how to clone your form:

Alas!  This problem is happening with all of my forms now.  It happens on 3 work computers, 2 home computers, and 1 home computer of an employee.

Not sure what cloning the forms can do to fix it.  Also, I only receive Download Submission PDF with email notice.  I don't get long link like your example shows.  What does the error notice really mean?

    Hi Jack,

We are aware of this issue, impacting some of our users and for that reason I will raise your thread to our developers.

They are already looking at the issue with the PDF links so I would like you just to confirm following:

    1. You are not able to download PDF files over the link in your email ( created by {pdf-link} )
    2. You are not able to download PDF files clicking on Get PDF in the submissions panel
    3. You are not able to download PDF files with multiple submissions also in submissions panel (next to buttons for Excel and CSV files)

Please let us know which if not all of the above is true for you.

In regards to the link. Once you click on the link, just erase the "S" from the HTTPS protocol and you will be shown PDF file to download.

Example (based on your original question):

This gives error, but remove the s (bold and blue part):

    And it works properly.

I do apologize for the inconvenience, but the 'fix' above will help you to get the PDF files while our developers sort through the error and its cause.

Do let us know if you have any further questions and as mentioned, I will be raising this to our developers so they will get back to you through this thread as soon as there is any update on this matter.

    Best Regards,
