Are you going to be adding functionality for different tax amounts on different product types. E.g. all products in British Columbia Canada have 5% GST, but only some products also have an additional 7% PST - right now it doesn’t seem like your settings allow for this??

This is a re-post of a comment on How to Add Tax to Your Payment Form

    Hi Deanna,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to create multiple tax rates for different products using the Product List. While the feature you’re looking for isn’t currently available, rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform.

I've gone ahead and escalated your request to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

As a workaround for that, you can use the basic form fields to list your products and then use a Form Calculator widget to calculate the tax. I can walk you through setting that up:

First, Let's list the products with different tax rates in separate the Multiple Choice fields:

    • In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element + menu, scroll down to Multiple Choice and add a Multiple Choice for each tax type to your form.

Let's set the Calculation Values for these products:

    • Click on the Gear icon next to the Multiple Choice element.
    • Under the Options tab, toggle the Use Calculation Values to ON
    • Enter the price of the products in the Calculation Values field.
    • Repeat the same process for the other Multiple Choice element.

Now, let's add Form Calculation widget to calculate the price by tax:

    • In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element + menu.
    • Under the Widgets tab, scroll down to Form Calculation and add it for each tax type to your form.

    • Click on the Wand icon next to the Form Calculation widget.
    • Click on the Add Field button to add the field that will be part of the formula and use the virtual numeric keypad insert operators.
    • Make sure to click on Save.

    • Repeat the same process for the other Form Calculation Widget.
    • Add another form calculator widget to calculate the total price.

Lastly, let's set up a payment gateway:

    • In Form Builder, click on the Add Form Element menu +.
    • Under the Payments tab, search for Paypal Business and click on it to add it to your form.
    • Click on the Wand icon next to the Paypal Integration.
    • Click on the Downward Arrow icon under the Payment Type heading and select the User Defined Amount option.
    • Click on the Downward Arrow icon under the Get Price From heading and select the Grand Total.
    • Make sure to click on Save.

Give it a try and let us know if you need any help.

    Hi Deanna,

Thank you for getting back to us and for your feedback; it is much appreciated. I totally agree that it's quite challenging to create multiple tax rates for different products. But as mentioned, we have opened a feature request ticket with our development team in regards to potentially implementing this. We cannot guarantee that this will be implemented, but if/when we have an update for you, we will be sure to communicate it to you via this thread. As a quick aid, you could just follow the workaround that was given by my colleague.

We really appreciate your patience and understanding while we handle your request.

I also need the form to add VAT to the total if possible? It did this before I changed the setting to user-defined. How do I get it to calculate pokemonfusion to the total?
