I want to do the same but as you point out if this Template is edited at all it then upsets the hide empty emails. Does mean even if the "Question & Answer" is removed.
I would think that a lot of people would be glad of the ability to remove some of the text that means nothing to the user in a Response without making the Template "dirty". Would this feature be considered at all? Is there way to work around this?

Everything outside of the data table can be edited. Unfortunately, the Question and Answer headings fall within the said table, as can be seen below:
I could submit a ticket requesting that the aforementioned headings be excluded from the data table but are there any other elements you would like to be excluded?

Well that is good news about data outside the table. You asked if there was anything else, there is, can the hidden fields be left out, they are there just for reference purposes. For instance an order number that would be incremental and only needed by the recipient of the notification but not the user.

Unfortunately for now it seems not possible to hide empty fields and still edit the email so that hidden fields are not displayed.
I forwarded a feature request to our developers so they can consider its future implementation.
You'll be contacted via this thread once they have an update on this.
Let us know if you need more assistance.

Any update to this??? Seems silly to have to use the default notification template to achieve hiding the empty fields.

When the 'Hide Empty Fields on Emails' option is checked you cannot edit the Questions/Answers table, but everything else is editable.
This is not likely that we will re-implement mentioned behavior in the near future. Thank you.
