Product Lists

Hi. I am building a form for lunch orders for a weekend event so there are lunches for Saturday and Sunday. It would be best if it was two different product lists so that on the backside the lunches for the separate days were two different columns in the submission spread sheet and so that we could print out invoices/receipt for each day and keep them separate versus orders for both days. Is there any work around or other way to tackle this? I know we can't have two product lists on the same form. There only needs to be one check-out. There will be a crew of volunteers packing each family's orders each day and having both day's orders on one receipt will likely be confusing. I hate to have to have two separate forms and force folks to make two separate payments.

    This is the form https://form.jotform.com/230091954285055

Initially I was envisioning a multiple choice box where you could select which days and then it would open a field to order Saturday's lunches and then a field for Sunday's lunches. As you can see now it's clunky and I think folks will be confused but I can't figure out how else to build the form.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

    Thank you!

Also is there a way for folks to see their total order before proceeding to payment...sort of like a shopping cart? It would be helpful to have a final confirmation since when we use the payment integration they have no way of going back in and changing their orders when they make a mistake.

    Hi EFSL_2022,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I believe I have a workaround that may help, but I will need a bit of time to create an demo form for you. I will circle back to this thread with an update as soon as I've had a chance to prepare it.

Thank you for your patience in the meantime.

    Hi EFSL_2022,

Thanks for your patience while I worked on the demo form for you. While we're not able to have multiple product lists or hide certain parts of it based on what's selected - I've prepared a workaround for you that may be useful. The demo form for this can be viewed (and cloned if needed) from here.

For my cloned version of the form, I've turned on the setting for having categories in the Product list, and separated out your menu items for Saturday and Sunday into Separate categories. I added a header to make that section more noticeable and I've also increased the width of the form and split your items into two columns, to help make the form a little shorter. This should help to clear up some of the confusion.

Regarding your second question (about reviewing their order) I've gone ahead and enabled the Review Before Submit Widget in my cloned version of your form. This allows the user to go over their selections before actually submitting the order. There is also a button to take them back to the form to edit their selections if they would like to change anything before proceeding.

Rest assured we’re always working to add new services and features to Jotform. I think the ability to control which products are shown based on selections in the form would be a great feature to have, so I've gone ahead and escalated that to our Developer Team. When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

Please check out the form I've linked and feel free to clone it if it suits your needs. Let us know if you need any further help with this.

Marlow - this is great. Definitely a step in the right direction. Is there a way to capture the orders so that on the backside of the submission on the spreadsheet Saturday and Sunday orders are in two different columns. The other issue is that it's not breaking out the data for the drinks. It's just giving me the total number of drinks but I can't figure out a way to create a chart or list of total number of drinks and then broken down by item type. Only way seems to manually go through and count from what's written in the column but that will be a time consuming challenge. I guess the other option would be to list each drink type as it's own product but that will make the order form very long and busy. Any suggestions?

    Hi EFSL_2022,

Thanks for getting back to us. I’ll need a bit of time to look into this. I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

    Hi EFSL_2022,

Thanks for patiently waiting. Unfortunately, it is not possible to capture the orders in the Jotform Tables in two different columns. All the products the user ordered will be in a single cell or column.

In regards to the Report Builder, it will only display a report for the total number of drinks, and it is not possible to break it down by item type.

The only workaround I can think of is to download the submission entries as Excel and split the multiple lines into separate cells in the Product list. Here's how to do it:

    • In the Jotform Tables, click the Download All button and select Download as Excel option.
    • In Excel, select all the cells in the My Product column.
    • Then, go to the Data tab and select the Text to Columns feature.

    • Select the Delimited option, then click Next.
    • In the next step, tick only the Other, and in the Other box, enter the key combination CTRL + J.
    • Then, click Next.

    • In step 3 of the wizard: if you want to replace the existing cells, do nothing; if you want to output to a different location, use the Destination box to specify that location (select one cell).
    • Click Finish.

In this workaround, each product is separated out into separate columns that you can easily copy and paste to a different sheet or make a list in your sheet.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.
