Hi,
I am using zapier to send data from my CRM to a jotform form. I am able to make it work for the most part, but am having trouble getting my multi select values to be recognized in Jotform. I think it has to do with how the data is formatted, so am looking for some direction.
Here is how I've tried this far:
- ";" delineated i.e. Boat;Car;Fish
- "," delineated i.e. Boat,Car,Fish
- new line delineated (see below)
Boat
Car
Fish
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Hi Laurie,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform support. Are you integrating jotform through zapier? Can you please specify which form you're integrating through zapier. Can you send me the link to your form so I can take a look at it for you? I can investigate that if you can send a screenshot of what’s happening. We’ve got a guide here explaining how to do that.
After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.

Yes I am using Zapier to create a form submission using data from my CRM.
To make things easier, I've created a new test form with just one question in it. The form is called "MultiSelect_ZapierTestForm" https://form.jotform.com/230325737900048
Here is the screenshot of my zap
So when I test out this version, where my submission value is "Dog;Cat" , it appears that Jotform doesn't know how to parse it and it just shows up in the table submission as a string value, Dog;Cat
As you know, it should like this if the data was parsed correctly
I've tried to format my data in zapier a bunch of different ways, but can never get jotform to recognize it as two separate selections
Here is what it looks like if I use a comma instead
Finally, I tried formatting so that each entry is on a new line
It seems like I don't have the correct format that enables jotform to parse the values. Please let me know how best to proceed.
Thanks so much

Hi AllenLaurie,
Thanks for getting back to us. Normally, a form field needs to match the kind of field in your CRM so it will be sent correctly (i.e. Multiple Choice field in Jotform = Multiple Choice field in your CRM). As you can see in your screenshot, the data in the submissions table shows separate data. But after it's processed by the Zapier integration, the format breaks. Try to get in-touch with Zapier support to check why the format isn't being kept when they process the transfer for data. Also let us know what CRM are you using.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

What I need to know is how I need to format the data so that Jotform parses it correctly. Typically, multi select data is separated by a semi colon, but clearly that isn't working.
How should multi select data be formatted for ingestion by Jotform?
Thanks

Hi AllenLaurie,
Thanks for getting back to us. There's no option to split a multi-line field value within Jotform. An option that was suggested previously is to use Zapier's Formatter.
Let us know if you have any other questions.

I am happy to use zapier's formatter, but I need to know how jotform needs the data formatted.

Hi AllenLaurie,
Thanks for getting back to us. Submission data is stored in a tabular format which means it can be downloaded as an Excel/CSV data. Additionally, it can also be interpreted on PDF in various templates with the help of PDF-editor. It can also be represented in the form of Reports.
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
