Configurable list not saving changes in form upon re-edit

Asked by guineapigme on December 30, 2014 at 03:23 PM

When I change the first entry in the first row of my two field configurable list, the changes do not appear to saved because on re-edit with the link, the form is back to its initial starting condition.

This is the first update/change log list.

    Hi,

I was not able to see the issue, but have now cleared you form cache just to be sure.

Could you please create a dummy submission with this field (update/change log list) being filled out and then see if the issue is still there for you?

If it is do let us know the submission ID that we could test this on - the one that is causing you the issue.

Now also just to make sure that I got it right. When you click on the edit in the submissions panel, you are shown the jotform, but it does not show any entries that were submitted?

    Best Regards,
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

Regarding clearing the cache, if this is some requirement for editing, please let me know.  And in answer to your question, no.  I DO see the items in the submission report when I check the click box to include them.  Usually, they are not included.

    To summarize:

Here is the problem.  The following is the editable link that I have been using to allow reedits of the form.  I have repeatedly tried to save, expecting the additions to this configurable list to show up when I reedit.  Feel free to test this out yourself in this form.

I had removed this entry from the submissions form because I did not want to see the data in this format.  However, when I check the tools/edit list to show this, I DO see the information that I logged.

The problem is that this configurable list is not repopulated within the form when I go to reedit the same form.

Hope this helps, or let me know what else I can do.

    Thanks,

    Hi Deborah,

Regarding clearing the cache, if this is some requirement for editing, please let me know.

This is not a requirement, but can sometimes help resolve some issues if cache ends up with the old or corrupted value, causing your jotform to seem to not function properly.

This however you can always do from your own side as well, by following these steps: Clear form cache.

The problem is that this configurable list is not repopulated within the form when I go to reedit the same form.

OK, I believe that I saw the issue now.

    1. I went to the edit link you have given above
    2. saw the fields properly fill out and show just as they are seen in reports and submission panel.

    3. I have added my own entry
    4. clicked on submit
    5. went back to the edit link.
    6. the widget on form was not showing up properly.

Now what did work for me was refreshing the actual widget.

You can do that by clicking with a right mouse button on it then under this frame menu selecting reload this frame. After doing that it had again shown the actual values.

I will raise this now to our developers for inspection and they will get back to you through this thread as soon as there are any updates.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

Ok.  So, is this a legitimate bug, or are you implying that somehow I need to refresh all widgets in my form.   Is there a temporary safe workaround?

    Hi Deborah,

Yes, this seems to be a legitimate bug, but as a temporary workaround I would recommend reloading the iframe.

When using Chrome, you can do this by right clicking and then clicking on Reload frame.

or by going to a This Frame section in FireFox and then selecting Reload Frame option.

Once our developers find the cause of this and resolve it they will update you through this thread.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

Is there some additional code I can embed in my html/iframe widget for this as my form is on a website and I cannot expect the users to manipulate things appropriately.

I have the embed code for the form itself generated by Jotform.

Thanks for any help on this.

    Hi Deborah,

Unfortunately there are no extra codes that could be added for this to be working properly, at least not until our developers take a look at it and see what is the problem here.

Now based on your reply, I am under the impression that everyone will have access to the edit submission link? I was under the impression that you and your colleagues / employees would be the only one accessing the edit links, which is why I have offered a temporary workaround while the issue gets resolved.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

No, this form is not yet live, but it will be accessed only by myself, and two of our directors.  This is certainly not a public page.   I was hoping to show them the form soon though.

    Thanks for looking into this.

Any ideas on this bug.  I ask because I have another configurable list in my form which has NOT displayed this problem and I am worried it will be vulnerable as it is more important.

    Thanks?

Unfortunately, there are no updates yet regarding this thread.
I see that Ben has already submitted it to our back end.

Please allow some time so our development team can investigate the cause of this issue and once they have a solution for it, you'll be notified on this thread.

We appreciate your patience on this matter.
    Best Regards.

If this is a lower priority item, I might end up deleting this instance of the configurable list.  Any news on this?  I have multiple configurable lists on my site.

If the problem was identified sufficiently at least where the bugs occur, I could determine which ones to hide for now.

    Thanks,

    Deborah

    Hi Deborah,

Based on what I can see your issue has been assigned a developer and it is marked as very important. This means that they are already looking on the issue and how to resolve the issue, but unfortunately we can not give you any more details than that.

As soon as they have any information to give you they will update you through this thread.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

Hi, yesterday we made an update on the widget regarding this matter. And I would want you to test it out and report back to us if you still experiencing the said problem. On our side, we fixed it by synchronizing the back end data when your form is in edit mode to avoid loss of data.

I tried to load your given edit link of the form, and refresh it several times. I were able to see all data properly based on the previous data entered.

    Let me know your findings.

    Regards,
    Widget Team
