If I delete a field, will it also delete the data from my submission?

If I have a form with a field that I no longer need. Can I delete the field from the form or will it delete the existing data from that field. Is hiding the field the only option if I don't want to loose the existing data. Im asking because hidden fields make the form design messy and hard to work with. I'd rather not see them on the form during form design.

Thank you for reaching out to Jotform Support. If you delete a form field, it will also delete that field in the submission, and also the data associated with that field. Currently, the only option is to hide the field.

We appreciate your feedback on the hide feature. Unfortunately, this is the only possible way. What I can do is submit a request to our Developer Team for another feature that can help users to design the form easier with hidden fields.
