This can be achieve through the use of conditional logic. This feature of our forms can be customized to fit whatever you desire. All you would have to do is fully understand what it is that you need to get accomplished and enter into the conditional logic section of the form and it will do the rest. Now I take it that the email should be sent to the reference selected from the drop down menu.
Please follow the instructions below on how to locate and manipulate the conditional logic sections of your form.
1. Click on Conditions
2. Deciding on a Conditional Logic
In our case, we would select the option that says "Send an email after submission" and click Next.
3. Set up your conditional statements.
We are using the drop down menu as a source for the mail recipient. Please take a look at the screenshot below for the sample source I used. My drop down field is "Referred By".
In the conditional logic section of the form it will look something like this when completed.
#1: Select the field with your available options to the form user. In my case it was Referred By.
#2: Select the appropriate logical comparison to the field - "Is Equal To" is the best option in this scenario.
#3: Select a option in the field - My first selection was Steve Test1
#4: Select your Notification configuration. You should have completed this during your early testing phase of your form. This will send the notification in your desired order with the information filled out by your form user to the mail recipient. A properly working Notification configuration should be selected in order for this to be successful.
#5: Enter the email address that correspond with the selected Reference from step #3.
Now, once you have completed conditional logic form like shown above, click on save and then repeat the steps for all the other options in your Referred By drop down list.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact me if additional assistance is needed.
NB: If you need additional information on the other Conditional Logic options available to you, you can reference this thread and all the information will be provided.
