We have many forms collecting photos from applicants.
We want to be able to limit the file size for usability of the images after collection. (currently possible)
However, many of our form users do not know how to reduce their image size prior to uploading, and have been frustrated by the limitations, resulting in late and incomplete forms, and negative feedback.
Specifically, we would like to have the form be able to accept 3MB or 5MB images and resize them automatically down to 1MB.
Please let me know if you require additional information in order to address this.

Just a thought, how about you increase the upload file size limit to maybe 10MB on your file upload field so users can upload larger images and then you can download these images later on and re-size them locally. I think it would be much easier, plus it's your discretion if you want to get lossy quality when you re-size them for a smaller size.

One of the features we are using is the pdf export of the submission with photos embedded. Extracting, resizing and re-uploading is not an option for our workflow.
We may be able to resize locally for other uses in the short term as a workaround, but we are dealing with hundreds of photos in relatively short windows of time, so to have them reduce automatically upon initial upload would be the best long-term solution. Is this something that Jotform could provide?

What you would like is to let your form to automatically re-size uploaded images, is that correct? Unfortunately, it is not possible right now, what is available is the size limitation that my colleague has mentioned above. But, I see that there are also other users who are looking for this kind of feature, mostly in the photography industry. I'll count you as one of them and forward this to our development team as a feature request. Please do take note that we can't provide an exact date to when this will be considered or if it will be implemented, but rest assure that if a lot of users are looking for it, it will be something that they can take a closer look.
We will update you when there's news about this feature request.

I know it has been a while, but this is the exact feature I'm looking for. It is necessary for the form I'm using, which has images uploaded directly from mobile devices. It is unreasonable to expect users to resize photos they've taken on their phones, but file sizes are so large that form submission can take 30+ seconds, or significantly longer if they've attached multiple photos. It also eats up my memory as a Jotform user. The photos are just used as reference, so low quality isn't a concern.

Your additional request has been noted. If there is any progress on this request, will let us know via this thread. Generally, features are added when there is high demand. There are a few requests for this feature, however, it has not gained much traction. At this time it does not look very likely to be added in the near future.

I have the same request, to be able to re-size images that are going to be uploaded. Basically ask me the size of file I would like to send, like the I-phone does when you email a picture.
