Google Spreadsheet is being reset to default format upon a form update

    Also, any time, I add a field to the form and a new submission is submitted, all formatting and extra tabs that were created on the sheet get deleted.  This is a major flaw in jotform's functionality.

    I think that this is how the integration works. It updates the Google Spreadsheet to default format to make sure that everything is linked properly. I will escalate a ticket about the issue you have described, but I do not know when or if it can be fixed.

    You might also consider another integration method: JotForm -> Zapier -> Your custom Google Spreadsheet. It should not change your custom Google Spreadsheet formatting.
