How to limit event registration to a certain amount of registrations?

Asked by mmarlin74 on January 13, 2015 at 05:36 PM

Is it possible to set a limit based on the number they select in a certain field on the form? For example, I would like to cap my event at 60 people, but am allowing multiple people to register per registration form.

    Hi,

I presume that you are after a widget such as our Ticket Purchases. It will allow you to set up the number of people that you will host and each time a space is taken this will be updated.

What this means is that first person will see 60 and if they take 10 places (for 10 people including them) the next person that comes to your jotform would see "50 left". Of course you can optimize this to state what you prefer instead.

This guide will show you how to add a widget to your jotorm.

Do let us know if you have any further questions along the way as well if this widget is what you were after.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

Thanks Ben. I think I may be missing something. The widget is great, but how does it know when and how many people have registered?

    Hi,

    Great to hear that. :)

In regards to your question, it is a very good one. The way it works is that you set the number of tickets that are available and once someone selects the number they are after and click on submit this same number is taken away from the number you set.

In your sample you had mentioned 60 people. So if someone takes 2 it would reduce this number to 58 and show that there are only 58 now to the second person.

You might also like this widget: Quantity Gift Registry as it will allow people filling out the jotform to select the number of tickets they want to get (not limited to 1).

Do let us know if you have any further questions and we would be happy to answer them.

    Best Regards,
    Ben

Thanks again, Ben. Last question (I hope). I've inserted the widget into my form, but when I view it or try to complete it via my website, but the box to include the number of "attendees" does not appear. All I see is the the label.

I have a similar question. We are offering four days of the same workshop - each day is limited to 15 people. So I want them to select the date they wish to attend and have that date close off when 15 people have registered for it, but allow the other dates to remain open as long as the 15 slots have not yet been filled. It's not a matter of selecting a certain number of tickets. These are our employees, so they can only sign up for themselves.
