I attempted to downgrade my account to the free account once in December and another time today and it is still showing as a paid account? How do I change my subscription to a free account?

Your subscription is already cancelled upon checking our records. Your account is set to downgrade to our free plan on January 17th this year.

No further charges will be taken from your card. Your subscription is already deactivated. But not unless you will re-upgrade again.
