    Formatting my reply e-mail to customer's submissions

    Asked by arpajo on October 13, 2011 at 04:05 AM

    Hello guys!

    In my company, we create events for our customers to sign up to. However, sometimes these events are limited to a certain number of people, and if we get more requests than free slots, we send a Reply E-mail to those customers who we have chosen to attend. Therefore, we send a Reply E-mail from Jotform. However, we would like this e-mail to be formatted in the same way as the form (same background color, the logo, footer, etc). Is there any way to copy the formatting from a form to the reply e-mail? If not, is there any "easy" way to format the reply e-mail which is sent from Jotform?

    Thanks very much!

    Roberto,

    There is actually no easy way to format reply e-mails sent from the submissions page, although there is a workaround, albeit a little tedious.

    1.  Go to your form's notification contents (Setup & Embed > Email Alerts > Notification)
    2.  In the Compose Email Wizard screen, press CTRL - A on your keyboard to select all e-mail contents then press CTRL - C to copy
    3.  Paste the contents onto the Reply Submission screen in the form's submissions page
    4.  Replace the field placeholders "{email}, {name}, etc" with the actual submitted information
    5.  Clean up your reply email content by deleting unnecessary text

    Hope you find this useful.

    Hello again!

    Thanks very, very much for your detailed response!

    However, I wanted to "replicate" the format of the original form that is sent to the customers. Finally, what I did was, I used another HTML editor where I copied the logo and I formatted the text the same way as it is in the form, then I copied all the code into the reply e-mail and I have the same logo with the same formatted text (although different answer, obviously).

    But I still have a minor problem: I would like to add a background color to the whole reply e-mail. I was wondering if there was any way to do this from the HTML editor inside Jotform. I already have a background color in the original form, and I would like to add the same background color to the reply e-mail. The color code is #EE8007 (its a kind of orange)

    Do you know what I should add to the code in the Jotform HTML editor to get a background color for the whole reply e-mail? That would be great.

    Thanks very much!

    Roberto,

    Sorry for the confusion. I thought that what you wanted to replicate is the form's notification mail, not the actual form itself.

    As for your follow-up question, click the HTML button in the reply email screen in the submissions page:

    Then, copy these codes at the top of the email's source:

    <div style="background-color: #ee8007;">

    and this one at the bottom:

    </div>

    so that all the other codes are enclosed between them.

    Hope this helps.
