Accessing files after moving the form to another account

    Hello,

I read that there is an option JotForm  support team to change one's username. What happens to the stored submission files in that case. As I realized, those files are accessed via the url: https://jotform.com/%...%/username/%...%/...

Are the files going to have their urls updated as well?

    Thank you very much!

    Hi there,

That's a good question. The URLs will not be updated, it would still use the old custom URL. So if you change your username, you'll also need to re-embed these forms using the new custom URL.

    Thank you.

Hello! Thank you but how I will access the files since they will have the old username in their urls?

Sorry for the confusion. I believe that you are referring to the files uploaded to the original account before moving the form to a new account. The URLs of the files uploaded to the JotForm are also changed when the form is moved to new account. If you want to access the files from the submissions that are being transferred from old account, you'll need to change the username from the URL.

    http://www.jotform.com/uploads/old-username/formid/submission_id/filename.ext

This change is required only for the submissions that are moved from old account. The new submissions will be storing the files in the new account itself.

Hope this answers your question. Please let us know if you are referring to something different. We will be happy to help.

Thank you! That was exactly what I am referring to.

So, this means that once the files are uploaded to your server, their URL cannot be changed?

Why this is important: Since we would like the submissions from a certain form to be available to 3rd parties, it would be better if the URLs are associated with our new account's name, not the old one, since this might cause confusion.

    Thanks!

You'll not be having any issues with the new submissions received after moving the form. The URLs for the new entries that being received after moving into new account will be having the correct URL with the new account username. The submissions that were moved along with the form from the old account will also be having the URL with new username, but the files remain with the old account. So, it is necessary to change the username to old username when you try to access old submissions.

Hope I make it clear now. Please let us know if you have any questions in this regard.

    Thanks!
