How to have section separator when adding several conditional statement in the form

Asked by JohnSSmith on February 10, 2015 at 02:41 AM

Wow - Can I say, after using Jotform for the first time and for a week or so now, I am very impressed by its power. So much so that I plan to use it in other ventures in the future.

A coupe of features I would like to request -

After completing or nearly completing a new very large form with many repeat sections, 12 in one case and 24 in another, there as one thing I found difficult, and I suggest a couple of solutions.

    1) In the section that was duplicated 23 times total 24 sections, I had one field that was "Required" based on the answer to a previous field.

While entering the condition 24 times, I had to be very careful, as there were no indicators to determine I was doing the right field. Lucky that the conditions kind of keep their place, so I was able to scroll down to the next correct field.

However my "sections" all have either headings or a collapsed form control, which contains the numbering for each section. Jotform correctly does not show them as they are not data fields that can be chosen.

However can I suggest they are shown, just greyed out, and can't be chosen. This would help immensely when trying to work out where you are, and which field can be chosen.

I think this request may be handy in other sections of the conditions for Jotform as well.

    2) When duplicating several fields, it would be fantastic if any conditions where all fields are being duplicated, then then a questions is asked if we wish to duplicate the condition - I realise there is a lot more to this, but there could be some big savings in time.

    3) In our form we ask some question of property investors, who can own quite a few properties. Throughout the form we need to ask them further questions about properties they own. 12 questions in the same 12 sections above on properties and 24 questions on the loans attached to those properties. In fact in the 24 sections we actually have to list the properties for choice, 3 times in each section.

For the radio buttons, and check boxes we list the properties as Property 1, Property 2, etc, etc. Of course the clients have to remember the position of where they listed their properties originally. I can already see some clients making mistakes.

I would like to see a widget, for a Drop Down list, Radio Buttuns, and Check Boxes, where each item added to the list, is chosen from a previous entered field, and if empty it does not list it.

    Anyway thank you.

You meant the conditional statement by greyed out right?

You can disable a specific conditional statement. Use the disable icon to disable a condition and it will not be used in the conditions on the form.

#2  We will resolve it separately here http://www.jotform.com/answers/513083

    #3

I would like to see a widget, for a Drop Down list, Radio Buttuns, and Check Boxes, where each item added to the list, is chosen from a previous entered field, and if empty it does not list it.

    There is Dynamic Dropdown widget

demo form that uses the dynamic dropdown widget http://form.jotformpro.com/form/43514646570961?

The User Contributed Dropdown widget is also unique.. because you cannot add what already was on the list..

here is the demo form you can test http://form.jotformpro.com/form/43438068244962?

Hope this help. Let us know if you have further inquiry on the ff:

    Thanks.

    1) No I am not suggesting a condition be grayed out.

Example of a small section of a form:

    FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget

HEADING (or text for that matter)

    Data Field A

    Data Field B

When adding a condition for Data Field A and Data Field B, I can't see the FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget or the HEADING. This is because Jotform rightly says, well you cant have any conditions on them, so why show them.

If I have repeated the Data Field A and Data Field B many many times, then creating a Condition for each SET is difficult

I would like to see the FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget or the HEADING when creating the condition, so it is easier to navigate the sets I want to create a condition for. However taking into account that you cant create a condition for the FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget or the HEADING they should be greyed out.

    Hope that makes more sense.

    3) I do know about the User contributed drop down box, but from what I can see it is only good for once off situations.

I have a form where I have 72 drop down lists, radio button or check box choices. I can very well ask the client to fill them out each time with exactly the SAME information.

If a Widget had the ability to be either be a Drop Down List, radio buttons, or check-box's and also have the ability to create a list from other previously entered/chosen data and also manually entered, then that would be fantastic.

    Thank you for further explanation.

If my understanding now is correct, you meant that the header and collapse field should also be available in the "IF" dropdown list in the Condirion wizard to easily navigate the fields for selection when composing the condition logic.

so, you wanted the "IF" dropdown list to appear like this..

    #1 FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget

#1 HEADING (or text for that matter)

    Data Field A

    Data Field B

    #2 FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget

#2 HEADING (or text for that matter)

    Data Field A

    Data Field B

    --

I agree that this can be a good option also. I will submit a feature request ticket and seek approval from our higher team support of this can added.

For the meantime, there is already a similar way to easily navigate and select the section condition for specific field. When you select a field that contains conditional statement, it will have its own condition icon that you can use to open the condition editor for that specific field.

and you can always filter the saved condition to show only specific condition for a section/action

your suggestion actually is helpful only on the first time creation of the multiple section conditions.

We will resolve the other item here http://www.jotform.com/answers/513599

    Thanks.

so, you wanted the "IF" dropdown list to appear like this..

    #1 FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget

#1 HEADING (or text for that matter)

    Data Field A

    Data Field B

    #2 FORM COLLAPSE click-able widget

#2 HEADING (or text for that matter)

    Data Field A

    Data Field B

Correct, however when doing a REQUIRE Condition I also want the THEN statement to have the same thing as well.

As you can imagine if you have 24 IF and THEN require statements for fields with all the same name, then setting up the condition is difficult

    Data Field A
    Data Field B
    Data Field A
    Data Field B
    Data Field A
    Data Field B
    Data Field A
    Data Field B
    etc

True you can choose the condition from the field, once it is set up, and also true it is the initial setup that is the problem.

    Thank you
