Feature Request: Quandl widget or some other way to grab finance information

Hi there; I'm currently building a suite of forms and want to be able to grab fundamentals to do with stocks and shares pricing, earnings, P/E ratios etc.

I know that Quandl has a good selection of free data available via API and I wondered if a Quandl widget was being considered? Also, is anyone aware of any other widgets that could be used to grab stock information? I know that IFTTT integrates with the 'Stocks' channel, but that only provides closing prices and it would be great if there were more information available.

    Thanks for your consideration.

    Paul.

    Hi,

I did a bit of looking and I was unable to find anything we have similar to your request.  Before I send this feature request to our developers, could you please let us know a bit more about what functionality you would like to see in a widget of this sort?  Something as simple as entering a ticker symbol and having data imported to the widget?  Or something different?

I personally think this is an interesting idea, the more information you can provide the better.

Hi David, yes, that's exactly right. My ideal scenario is:

User arrives at the form and enters a ticker (e.g. GOOG)

The form then fetches stock fundamentals data via a widget and imports that data into various fields (e.g. Previous Closing Price, Price / Earnings Ratio, Volume, PEG ratio etc.)

I'd then like to be able to use that data in form calculations, for example providing a stock-price valuation, based on the data that is pulled back. I think the key here is that the lookup would need to be based on the user input, so that means that the form author shouldn't need to predefine what ticker to look for, the form should be able to pass that information to the widget.

I hope that's all you need, but if you'd like more, please let me know.

Thank you for the additional information.  Our widgets have limited capability to interact with the rest of the form so I am unsure as to whether or not the calculation ability is doable.

I'll pass tyour request along to our developers to see if this is something we can implement.  We do have quite a large load on our developers at the moment due to the Adobe Forms Central shutdown, so it may be a bit before they can address this request.

David, thanks for the response and I understand their workload!

I should also point out that Quandl has a huge range of free datasets available via API; economic data, stocks and assets, employment data, currencies, inflation and lots more, so for more interactive forms it could be a good data source.

Thanks again for the information.  This does sound like something that would be very appealing.  We will let you know in this thread when we have any updates.
