How to display calculation values of check box question instead of option text in email alert?

So someone will go to the first database and select several options which are connected to the second database which will generate a list of things that came from the second database. I have set up the first database using check-boxes so that a respondent has the ability to choose several options from that first data base. There are four separate sections in the first database and for each section I have gone into show properties and via the calculation values I have attached another set of options that are related to the options on the first database with the hope that when the respondent chooses an option in the first database it connects to the appropriate options in the second database. What I want is to generate a list from that second database as a result of the selections made in the first database. I have tried to connect the four sections via the form calculation widget in the hope that the selections made by the respondent will generate a list of options from the second database which will appear in the calculation field at the bottom of the page. I want this list to then be e mailed to me so that I can make the end product for the respondent. I don't want the respondent to see that list, it is only for my eyes, if you will.

To put it another way, in the first database/form a respondent selects A which is connected to 4,5,6 in the calculation value field (what I have previously called the second database) in the show properties option in the drop box. The respondent might select B which is connected to 7,8,9 in the calculation value and once that is done I want to receive an e mail that shows 4,5,6,7,8,9 as a result of the process. As yet I have not been able to get the last step to work whereby a list is generated, I was wondering if I am indeed able to do this using this site and if I am, what is the correct process to get the outcome I desire, thank you Nick.

    Hello Nick,

I am not sure if I have understood your question correctly.

Do you mean to say that in submission emails, you want to actually display the "Calculation value" you have added in your  checkbox/dropdown question?

What I am not able to understand is your statement "a respondent selects A which is connected to 4,5,6 in the calculation value field / respondent might select B which is connected to 7,8,9 in the calculation value"

Please be noted that you add calculation value for every options you add in your checkbox / radio or dropdown question. It is not possible to connect one option with multiple calculation values.

I would suggest you to please explain your question a bit more in detail and we will surely help you achieve your requirement.

We will wait for your response.

    Thank you!
