Asked by Bretair on October 20, 2011 at 05:09 AM

    Hello there,

I have some pretty basic questions, I hope you have the time to help.

    1. If I create a form couldnt I just use the sourse code for my site, meaning what exactly are you charging, lets say $9.99 for??

    2. I'm trying to create a Gift Certificate, the form, I created, Id like the filled in fields to display the entered information on a gift certificate JPG ive created? and then send that emailed certificate to the person who filled in the form? is that possible

    3. Do I need to set up Paypal credentials and API stuff??

    Kindest Regards,
    Bret

    Hi Bret,

Here are some informations with regards to your query.

    1. Yes! you can actually use the source code for your website but it needs a storage for your submitted data. Jotform allows you to store your submissions up to 1TB depending on your account status, paying $9.99/month can store up to 10GB disk space,  1000 Monthly Submissions and also 1000 for SSL Submissions. Please check the pricing page for more info.

    2. I think you are referring to an autoresponder feature which is available in JotForm, please visit here for more information on Autoresponder.

    3. Yes! you should secure your paypal account first before using our paypal payment features, please take a look on this guide for paypal form information, click here.

Hopefully this gives you an idea. Thank you.

Hello and thank you for responding

    1. I didn't in any mean to sound rude when asking can't I design the form steal the code put it into my website and not use you?

    2. I need a place to store the data from the form? Can't I use my own hosted space? How much does a simple form use up? Couple of kb?

    3. I'm estimating between 10-20 gift certificates per month, possibly 30-40 between now and Christmas

4.You are offering 10 submitted payments on a form but PayPal offer unlimited?

    5. Correct me if I'm wrong but are you not a middle man? Charging for services like submitted payments to PayPal which is free directly with them and use my own hosted space which I've already paid for?

I'm just trying to learn before I spend money with you, what you do that I can't do myself with no charge if I use my own web space and go directly through PayPal?

You have a great site and very user friendly, just trying to educate myself to an additional expense?

Also did you say that if I go with you, you would offer support taking a clients information they submit from the form and fill in the blanks automatically on a gift certificate template I've created and send it to the client, because that would be wonderful

    Kindest regards
    Bret
    Ps thanks for your time

    1. I didn't in any mean to sound rude when asking can't I design the form steal the code put it into my website and not use you?

Sure. Many people do that. Get the form code and implement the server side PHP code yourself so that they do not need JotForm. We encourage that. We are glad to help even if you do not pay us anything.

    2. I need a place to store the data from the form? Can't I use my own hosted space? How much does a simple form use up? Couple of kb?

Yes, you can download the full source code including the javascript and css files and place them on your site. Unlike all other form builders, we encourage that. It gives our users more flexibility.

    3. I'm estimating between 10-20 gift certificates per month, possibly 30-40 between now and Christmas

We do not have gift certificates feature unfortunately.

    4. You are offering 10 submitted payments on a form but PayPal offer unlimited?

PayPal charges you 3% for each payment. I hope you are aware of that. JotForm is free. You still need PayPal to process payments. We are not a payments processor. You will still need one in addition to PayPal.

    5. Correct me if I'm wrong but are you not a middle man? Charging for services like submitted payments to PayPal which is free directly with them and use my own hosted space which I've already paid for?

You are free to not use JotForm. We are a form building service. You can implement your forms using HTML, JavaScript and PHP. We are targeting users who do not know those technologies and do not want to spend money to hire programmers to do it for them and maintain these server side scripts.

I'm just trying to learn before I spend money with you, what you do that I can't do myself with no charge if I use my own web space and go directly through PayPal?

Yes, you can use PayPal directly. Paypal even provides button code where you can place on your web site.

You have a great site and very user friendly, just trying to educate myself to an additional expense?

We do not have any additional expenses. Free for basic usage and $9.95 if you have a lot of usage.

Also did you say that if I go with you, you would offer support taking a clients information they submit from the form and fill in the blanks automatically on a gift certificate template I've created and send it to the client, because that would be wonderful

We do provide support. But we do not have that feature. So, we probably cannot help you with that.
