"DateTime Single" widget is not intuitive! How to improve?

I am using the "DateTime Single" widget and giving it a label of "Start Date/Time of your Event".

My problem is that this widget does not seem to provide a "calendar-type" icon, but only what appears to be an empty text-entry box.

When a user clicks in that "empty" box, a nicely-designed calendar appears!!

But how to tell my users that such a counter-intuitive click is what they should do!

If I could put "hint" text inside the box, saying something like 'click here to select a date' that would be good.

But I can't see how to do that.

    Any suggestions or advice?

    Hi,

While we do not have hint text available for that widget as well as edit its CSS, I think there's no option to make that possible. I'm not even sure if that's necessary since user will eventually click on the box to fill in something, that means they will eventually see the calendar. :)

However, if you want a single textbox calendar, I can recommend the "DateTime" tool under Quick Tools. Then enable "Lite Mode" on its properties (Right click the field then click Show Properties). Here's a visual guide:

Hope this still helps. Thank you!
