Feature request: Option to reassign the flow back to the first approver on the approval flow

    Hello,

I'm setting up my first Approval Flow for the approval of grant funding applications. When a funding application is submitted, it will need to be:

    • Reviewed by Person A, and marked as either:
    • Suggested approval
    • Suggested denial

    And then...

    • Review by Person B, and marked as either:
    • Approved
    • Denied

I'm wondering what the best way is to have Person B indicate to Person A that more information is required before they can make a final decision. Ideally, the funding application would end up back in Person A hands with a notation that it required additional information before it can proceed back to Person B for approval. Is this possible?

I've included the page link below for the Approval Flow. The proper form has not yet been attached.

    Thank you for your help!

    Julia

    Hi juliakemp,

Thanks for patiently waiting. This is possible by adding the Requesting for additional info as additional outcome on your Approval Flow for Person B. See below:

Feature request: Option to reassign the flow back to the first approver on the approval flow Image 1 Screenshot 50

Once added, Click on Settings to access the Properties, scroll down and click on Edit.

You can then click on the Approve or Deny button and on the mini window that will pop up select the new button.

This is how it will appear:

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

    Hi Rhina,

Thank you so much for getting back to me.

I'm wondering if you can help me understand your response. My goal is to allow PersonB to let PersonA know that they require additional info before they can make a final decision. In this instance, I assume there would be an arrow from PersonB back to PersonA.

In your response, it looks like you've got the arrow going the opposite way - from PersonA to PersonB. Is my understanding of how the arrows work incorrect?

    Thanks again,
    Julia

    Hi Rhina,

One additional question, after adding additional outcomes (ex. Maybe or Requesting more info) the outcome shows up in the approval flow and notification email but not in the Jotform Inbox.

Does Jotform have the option to connect with support via phone?

    Thanks,

    Julia

    Hi juliakemp,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, it is not currently a direct available feature to reassign the flow back to the first approver. I have forwarded this as a feature request to our developers.  When or if it's developed depends on their workload, how viable it is, and how many other users request it. If there are any updates, we’ll circle back to this thread and let you know.

As a workaround, please consider re adding the first and second approver again as the next step if Require additional info is selected. See example below:

Feature request: Option to reassign the flow back to the first approver on the approval flow Image 1 Screenshot 30

I tested adding an additional outcome and it seems to appear on the Inbox page. See below:

Feature request: Option to reassign the flow back to the first approver on the approval flow Image 2 Screenshot 41We currently do not offer phone support but we can assist you directly on this thread or you can check to see if the Live Chatbox is available on the right side when you open the main Jotform page. If it is not there then it means there's high traffic and the live chat is temporarily unavailable.

Keep us updated and let us know how it goes.
