How to properly set up email notification of approval that is to be sent after form is edited and approved?

Asked by Dan on February 24, 2015 at 08:24 AM

I cant get this to work. I am just about there but where I am stuck is send the conformation email back to the user. I have put an email input field which is automatically populate by another field where the user puts in their user name(I don't think this is causing the problem). I then set up the notification as set out above, when doing that I have to put in an email so I put mine.

I then set up a condition that says if the approval field is filled then send the notification to {email} but it comes to my address. I have check the above tips and it does say {email} in name.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Dan,

We will check it for you, but please create an account first: www.jotform.com/signup because we cannot do it if it's created using a guest account. Let us know your username here so we can check and move the form is the system fails to automatically move it to your account.

    Thank you!

    Hi

It seems to still be doing the same thing, sending it to my address not the one entered in the email box?

    @Danlight

I've made a test with one of your submission and it is working fine. I received a notification email.

Please try it again. Try using different email instead of using the same email when you run a test to avoid confusions. :)

    Thanks!

I'm having trouble figuring out how to set up approvals. I see that the site has changed since this question has been answered last, so I am wondering what steps I should be taking or if there is an updated version. thanks!

Here is an approval workflow example:

    1) Create your form. The user fills the form and select 1 of X number of mangers you have listed to send the application to:

1.2) Add a Page Break field, from the "Survey Fields" tab, into your form. Set the visibility for the back and next button to hidden.

(Add this page break field after the submit button)

    2) Create the email notification that will be sent to the person who will approve or decline: http://www.jotform.com/help/25-Setting-Up-Email-Notifications

Now build a custom edit URL that will show the manager or approver  the "Approval area". Example:

    Link: https://www.jotform.com/edit/{id}?jumpToPage=2

    3) Create the conditions in order to send the notification to a specific email address based on a selection: https://www.jotform.com/help/167-How-to-Send-Email-Based-on-Selection

    4) Create a form autoresponder that will contain a message that lets the user know that he has been approved: https://www.jotform.com/help/26-Creating-a-Form-Autoresponder, and make sure to enable the "Send on Edit" option:

    5) Create another condition to send the autoresponder:
