PDF Only import: The output form is not using the title of the PDF form that was uploaded

Asked by MTLMentors on March 21, 2015 at 04:20 PM

I have used the import the pdf form option.

I got a lovely message telling me it would take a few days!! and that I would get an e-mail telling me when the form was ready.

That was on the 18th March

popped into jot forms to do something else today 20th and i see in my form list this

    function (result){ consule.log(result',

the options available are to download pdf - inbox - more (disable, delete, rename)

I click on the download pdf option and was asked if i wanted an automatic collection of submissions or manual collection.

it did something that suggested that the form was downloading

on clicking the finished file it is not a pdf and so the computer does not know what programme to use to open this file

I few things occur to me

    1.  why do i need to download a pdf form that I have already uploaded from my computer?  Is there some magical thing that has happened that made this pdf form different to what I uploaded?

    2.  why can i not see the uploaded form in jotforms?

    3.  why is the jotforms output not using the title of the form that was uploaded?

I have over 100 pdf forms that i want to move from Adobe forms central and am increasingly frustrated by the process on jot forms - so far i have imported one pdf form unsuccessfully

can someone please make this process work well and easily?

    Hi,

Our apologies! But rest assured that our backend team are doing their best to speed up the process and have you the same format just like when importing an online form from Adobe FormsCentral.

    To answer your questions:

    1. Why do I need to download a pdf form that I have already uploaded from my computer?  Is there some magical thing that has happened that made this pdf form different to what I uploaded?

-I've tried the PDF Only upload option a few days ago and I saw the same options when it appeared to my account. The name was different though. The thing I can't confirmed if that's the final form since I don't get an email saying that the form is now fully available and ready for embedding. Did you get an email about it?

-Yes, as far as I know, the import process is automatic.

    2.  why can I not see the uploaded form in jotforms?

-Did you mean to say that you have uploaded a few forms and still can't see those in your My forms page? Or, you mean to say that why is it that the uploaded PDF form still on the same PDF format instead of an online form?

    3.  why is the jotforms output not using the title of the form that was uploaded?

-I think the import process is still ongoing so please don't do anything to the current form in your account.

I have now submitted this thread to our developers for further investigation. If there are updates, you should know it via this thread.

    Thank you!

    Hello Welvin

I did not recieve an e-mail telling me that the form I had uploded was now in the list on my forms

    point two

what i mean is I do not have a preview of the form option only a download the pdf option.  I do not want to download the form or perhaps I am misunderstanding the system

    UPDATE

I attempted to download and open the file again this time I asked my computer to open the file with adobe reader (forcing it to open as a pdf).  When the file opened in the reader it was/is a perfect pdf fillable form I think the one that I uploaded.  I have not tested its functionality yet.

    UPDATE

I pressed post answer far to soon - just visited the my forms list and the uploaded pdf form with the  funny title is now showing that i can edit the form (the pdf symbol that showed before is now missing)

upon clicking on the edit form link and upon clicking on the preview link i see something that bears no resemblance to the fillable pdf that I uploaded

add to that most of the questions are missing or incomplete

That's great to know and thank you for the update. In that case, I guess our system is still in the process of importing the form. In line with that, I have renamed this thread and updated the report ticket. I think the only remaining issue from your original posting is the form title which is too different from the original PDF file name.

As for the missing fields or incomplete fields issue, I will create a separate ticket about that in this thread: http://www.jotform.com/answers/538171

    Thank you!

    Hey @MTLMentors,

We're still working on the import PDF feature, and it seems you did hit a bug about form title.

I have just tried it with your PDF file, and everything is working as it should be.

    Answers to your questions :

    1) When you upload a PDF file, we're parsing, and recreating the file with necessary changes to send the submissions to JotForm.

    2) We do not have a preview option yet, but I'll create a feature request for it.

    3) Please re-download your form, you'll see it's fixed.
