I believe that I understand what you mean, but this is how it is supposed to work:
Hint Example will always create placeholder text - text that is shown as if it is filled out, but slightly dimmed / washed out which gets hidden when you click inside to type your reply.
On the other hand, you have most likely wanted to use Hover Text option which I highlighted above and that is right next to Hint Example option.
It will create a balloon like hover that shows you what the field is about instead.
This text is however only shown when you hover - have your mouse over the field.
Once you move the text from Hint Example to Hover Text, hit save and refresh the form and it should show you the text as you like it.
Do let us know however if you have any questions along the way and we would be happy to answer them.

Thank you for the reply -- I appreciate your response but I think you assumed user error and didn't look at the link I provided.
My form has two text boxes with the Hint Example placeholder text inserted. The form is converting placeholder text to text in the first text box (page 4 -- Potential Hazards).
If Continue Form Later (Auto Fill) is enabled the glitch occurs. If Continue Later (Auto Fill) is disabled there is no glitch. Check it out, please -- http://form.jotformpro.com/form/50495126435960?

Thank you for the clarification and providing us with detailed information.
But currently, I could not see the issue happening on your jotform http://www.jotformpro.com/form/50495126435960
while the Autofill Form was still enabled.
I checked and tried on my test form if I can reproduced the issue you described, but I also could not replicate it at this time.

Perhaps it could be just a browser cache related issue? Please try also clearing/refreshing your browser's cache and retry test again.
Please let us know if the issue persist.

I apologize, after doing further test I was able to reproduced it!
See screenshot for details
I will submit a bug ticket report to our higher team support to check on this.
We will let you know here for any update on the status.
